To be fair, usually my friends and I meet up at a bar before walking over and end up having a beer in excitement - but I usually stay on the 5% or less abv side.

Savor is a great time. Went the past two years that it has been in DC. Never been to any of the salons. Some of them look pretty interesting, but my wife and I have always enjoyed just having the general admission tickets.

I've been to all of the DC SAVORs (skipped NY last year). Yeah, the tickets are expensive, but it's worth it to me. The crowd is more civilized (no drunken frat boys puking). The food is very nice. The beer selection is other-worldly. And the parting gift (the cuvee) is probably worth $15-20 right there.

Yeah, what's the parting gift? Maybe I overlooked this, but I couldn't find anything on the site. It's a bottle of beer?

Yeah, last time it was in dc, wife and I hit up Churchkey before for a founders KBS tapping.

Yes, two breweries do. Special collab beer just for savor. It's poured at the event and the every ticket holder gets a bottle to take when you leave.
This year is firestone walker and flying dog. Hydra Cuvée. Blend of a imperial porter they just brewed, wookey jack, FE bravo (BA brown ale) and double DBA. Should be amazing

Exactly. It's a great time. Nice crowd, amazing venue. Attainable amount of beers. Most of them pour some really great stuff

I've got a wedding to photograph in Pittsburgh that weekend, unfortunately, so I'm going to miss out. Everyone have a great time!

Keep an eye out for Churchkey events, if you're going this year. Founders will be doing a tap takeover before Savor. The beer list should be pretty awesome!

See you guys Friday & in the CCB/Hardywood Salon. Questioning the time away from the tasting floor for a salon this year, however CCB has some tasty BA goodies. Do they only sample bottled beer at the salon? If so I would anticipate: GG Almighty, Barrel Huna?, Bourbon GBS, Rum Pumpkin

Last year in NYC was pretty awesome. I don't drink craft beer to get schwasted but every once in a while it's a nice consequence. SAVOR NYC was the first time I blacked out since college. First beer in the door was a 4oz pour of Parabola poured by David Walker. Knew my night was f'd right there. Only tallied 45 beers and didn't even see the sponsors area which had some beer heavyweights like Jim Koch, Garrett Oliver, Sam Calagione, and Rob Tod all manning their tables and pouring beers. I legitimately blacked out on the way home. Survived the short cab ride back to Port Authority bus terminal but somewhere between entering the terminal and buying a ticket I blacked out. I remember nothing until about 2 blocks before our stop when my friends poked me awake since they didn't know which stop was ours. Then about 5 minutes of lucidity and then back into the black hole. Found my suit jacket(yeah i suited up), shirt, tie, and shoes on the kitchen floor the next afternoon. There was no morning. We were home and in bed before midnight yet I still needed to sleep until 2pm.

The beers were amazing. The food was amazing. The people were amazing. Dudes from Choc were shoving cans into my friend's purse and telling us to shotgun them when we got home. Got to see a bunch of people have their first sip of Kane Brewing and see that moment of pure joy. Glad to see Three Floyds won't be there because they didn't bring enough beer to last even the first session last year. Probably because they were pouring full bottles of Zombie Dust to everyone who was lucky enough to go to their table first. They were kicked in less than 45 minutes both nights. No one else kicked until over 3 hours into the event. I honestly would have preferred smaller pours of the beers. Even just adhering to the 2oz limit would have been fine. The one cool thing about having brewery owners and brewmasters was the complete lack of care for that limit though. They were all probably as drunk as we were and very heavy with the pours because they knew no one was going to stop them. At the end of the night we found out there was a massive cheese and chocolate table and I only know this because in said suit jacket I found like 5 fancy chocolate bars the next day. I vaguely remember filling my commemorative glass with cheese on the way out and then dropping the cheese all over an NYC sidewalk. What I learned was I'm a very in control drunk. Wasn't stumbly from what I'm told. Didn't slur my words really. Didn't puke(though someone did like a half hour into the festival...there's always one). It was absolutely worth it. That being said...doubt I'll go this year. Sweet list of breweries but the only reason I went last year was proximity. I also went to 3 sessions of GABF and the Dr Bill bottle share so my liver needs like a year off.

I'm glad NYC got to enjoy Savor last year, but really, let's keep it to DC. We sell it out anyway.

It was a semi-disaster in NY. Besides the 3floyds rep saying they got their kegs stolen from their truck, we had the early salon and the people at the door had no idea about it and wouldn't let people in until about 15-20min after the salon was suppose to start after forcing them to talk to their sup, getting us into the full event about 30min late rather than 15min early. Glad it's back here. The venue is better and it looks like the food menu has even expanded a bit. The parting bottle might be the best one yet.

Yeah, this will be my third year attending in dc and I am really excited about the hydra cuvée. Sounds like it's going to be a great on.
Plus, just about all the breweries seem to be pulling out their big guns to pour, plus some exciting new breweries for savor also

When I say that - I have nothing against NYC, the beer scene, etc. It's just that it felt special to have our own event, and a popular one here at that. Plus the National Building Museum is a great venue. http://www.nbm.org/

I've been wanting to go for years but didn't have the disposable income. This year is different and I'm ready for Friday night. I skipped the salons because the main event seemed like more than enough.
