I just drank a Sucks and I'm trying this for the first time it's like Sucks little brother lighter less in your face taste but not bad no bottle date anywhere in sight. I'm wondering what all the hype is about it's a solid brew but just ok.

Hehe.. glad you enjoyed. I should have warned you about the warmth though. I didn't like it at all the first time I tried it cause it was waaay too cold. It does well with some time to blossom though

I was told I didn't need to that there would be beer there and @DaveHack would be there with some tasty bubs! Which he was Tree House Juice Machine (very tasty) and Double Shot (always love a good coffee stout!).
The guest of honor was totally surprised too!

I have a friend from Ohio who sent me some White Rajah, Headhunter IPA, and Columbus IPA for winning our fantasy baseball league. White Rajah was by far my favorite beer of that trio and quickly established itself as one of my overall favorite IPA's. Thought it was great and totally worthy of the hype, personally.

Busy day. Headed over to a buddy's house for a grilled cheese late lunch...and splitting his last Heady Topper. That's a true friend right there! After that, we moved on to a couple of new beers for me. First up: a collaboration between Green Flash and St. Feuillien: Belgian Coast IPA.

Pretty tasty. I admit, after the HT, the hops weren't shining through, but the malts and Belgian yeast definitely reminded me of a Westmalle Tripel. Not a bad beer at all.

Next up, I pulled out a beer I've been saving for several months: Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Break Natale (Pretty Please With A Cherry On Top).

Great looking beer, good smelling beer, great tasting beer. If anything, I wish there was more cherry flavor; as it was, it was a solid stout (OK, OK, "imperial porter"), with huge notes of cocoa and roasted barley. However, the subdued, delicate cherry kept it from being a gimmicky beer; it really had all flavors done in excellent proportions.

After that, I picked up some beers at a local shop, including some Gandhi-Bot for a box, and headed over to my favorite semi-local spot, the Malted Barley in Westerly, RI. Enjoyed a couple beers, starting with Grey Sail's Flagship Ale on cask, with Citra hops and rose hips:

I don't know if this beer translated perfectly to cask. It was good, and very easy drinking. It didn't stand out as excellent, though.

Finally, as a nightcap, I was considering FBS on tap. However, I saw this little regional brew I'd never had - 2 Roads' Igor's Dream, an Imperial Russian Stout with rye, and aged in oak whiskey barrels - and I figured that was certainly worth the price of admission:

Maybe it was palate fatigue; maybe it was the rye; maybe it was straight whiskey instead of bourbon. Whatever it was, this was an enjoyable stout, but it fell far short of remarkable. Being the only BA stout on tap at the place right now, maybe I'd get it again, but I'd probably opt for a FBS next time around. I think it's worth trying if you've never had it before, and I may give it another go on a fresh palate, but I wasn't blown away.

Good friends, good beer, good times.

Well, that's all for the night. I'll see my fellow BAs tomorrow.

    Cheers!

Last night was Iniquity, tonight I'm finally getting to try Oak Aged Unearthly. Was very pleased to see my favorite store had restock on the standard.. even more so when I saw the oaked version. Liked the original, been wanting to try this for a while. Not at all disappointed. Great nose, really nice mouth. LOVE the oakiness, but then that's no real surprise.. oak, smoke, and barrels seem to be among my favorite ingredients  Cheers!
