I was able to acquire a bottle of this, and was wondering how others think it is drinking now. Is it super boozy at this moment? Really important to age it a bit, or just a slightly good idea?

I was able to get a few at Liberty Station the other day. It is drinking great right now, IMO. It's not that boozy at all, and the barrel aging did wonders for an already great RIS. I intend to age a few to see how it changes, but if you drink it now, you will definitely enjoy it if you are a fan of the regular.

What one considers super boozy is another person's "just right". I mean, it's $18, which isn't breaking the bank and it's all over the market right now. Why not crack it open and see if it's drinking right for you right now?

But speaking as someone who cracked open one - it's drinking amazing. I would suggest opening one and enjoying and getting another few bottles while it's still on shelves. This is high class stuff.

I did not find it to be boozy at all, compared to most of the barrel aged stouts I've had as of late.

If I could get another bottle, I would definitely crack one right now. All of the places that got it by me sold out of them really quickly.

where abouts are you? In L.A. the $18 price ticket seems to keep Stone's QM series on the shelf for a while. Even the Pasadena store had a slew of them. We're looking at a 3k for Fyodor and 1500 for Mikhail in terms of bottle count.

Didn't seem boozy at all considering it's almost 14%. Feel was a bit watery too.

Is Mikhail available at any place other than at Stone last Sunday? It was kinda under the radar and I missed it.

I think it's a Stone store exclusive. Where they actually out of it? I picked up bottles at Pasadena on either Tuesday or Wednesday and it seemed they had a slew of them left.

It's pretty good, I actually kinda like it. It's not as complex or 'bourbon forward' as other BBA stouts like Parabola, BCBS, Abyss, Speedway or Black Tuesday. I think where people have the problem with it, the price is quite up there. It's more expensive than others that have more 'flavor'. If any of that makes sense...

And I'm not sure there's enough there to lend well to aging.

Are you saying the base beer isn't adequate for barrel aging or the barrel-aged version won't benefit from cellaring?

No, the base beer is very good. I don't think the barrel aged version will change much as all the flavors are pretty flat and mellow. It might lose more with aging.

    It's also at the O'side TJ's for $15.49. I think it's a great beer.
