I got a red skull: apparently Habanero schnapps added. Should be memorable. Good old Archie McPhee.

I was thinking maybe someone at the brewery peed in my bottle, so I'll take some infected Abyss.

Will there be a release of 2nd batch, non bba, 1st Nail bottles at Fremont?

Uhh...yes. We just got our labeller today and the beer is bottled and the labels are here, so...we have to get the system running, label the beer and Walla Walla, beer. I'm guessing next week, unless someone loads the pipe and spring steelhead are running

BTW, just finished brewing a collaboration today with Oskar Blues (thanks to Jason, brewer from Oskar Blues, who came out for the brew) for SBW release. We are going to Denver next week to brew with Oskar Blues for the CO version....released at the same time...name is, of course, Simultaneous Release...."it makes everyone happy"

@Texwild - seeing how this thread took a Fremont Brewing update side tangent…. noticed your Bikram pals are finally shutting down this month and moving down the block. Any insight to what's in store for that space? More production room? Giant beer garden? FBC weed shop?

Chuck's Central has 1st Nail on tap..... that being said; to the folks that got multiple bottles, it was horrible stuff. Tell you what, I'll trade some other "better" brews to take them off of your hands.

Oak Aged Dark Star with Hazelnut and Smoked Black Peppercorn is on tap and in bottles! $6/Goblet and $10/Bomber. Come and get it!

One of my favorites, glad it was bottled.

I will be buying a case of that Dark Star variant. Unbelievably good.

It can't possibly be good if I can't trade it for a beer with Fuzzy in the name.

Or, wait, even better: Oak Aged Fuzzy Dark Star.

    BOOM - tastes better already.

Got me there. If no raffles or four hour+ lines are involved, it clearly isn't nearly as good.

Seems to be one of the most popular Fremont variants - Never had it and extremely hesitant to give it a try as I'm deathly allergic to hazelnuts….

That sounds terrific. Good thing I will be making my first visit to Fremont this weekend. Can't wait.

With my jocular post out of the way, I gotta say I'm really impressed by the acceleration in ... innovation (is that the right word?) coming from Fremont. Caning unlabeled beers for release at the brewery, responding pretty quickly to consumer delight with Bellingham Beer Week to turn it into (hopefully) a seasonal regular in Midnight Rider, putting out a drinkable low ABV sour at an affordable price, and now getting a popular variant of Dark Star in bottles. And, from what I've heard, there's a lot more to come - another edition of 1st Nail (and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE a BAFL of Rusty Nail next year), cans of Dark Star, cans of Sister, cans of Brother. Phew. This is, I hope, the kind of empassioned activity that can activate a lot of the other breweries around town to start pushing their limits. Reuben's, though the new kid on the block, is also chipping in - putting out monsters like Blimey. Really hoping this presages a step up in the local brewing scene.

Now ... when do we see Old Bridge Rider get a BAFL release? ;-)

speaking of blimey... reuben's announced they'll be doing another blimey batch for this summer, in addition to making it a annual february release.

The impression I got from the article is that the Blimey batch will be for the WA Brewer's Festival, no bottles. Not a problem for me since I always go to the festival.
