The only beer left in my house is five bottles that I've set aside for ageing
Twaites Old Dan, Wincle Wassale, Courage RIS, Bateman's 2013 Vintage & Fuller's 2012 Vintage
oh and a can of Fosters somebody brought round

I've got a feeling one of those bottles isn't going to age anymore :grimacing:

a visit to 'spoons and a rather enjoyable Sixpoint Let it Rain brewed at Adnams followed by a disappointing Elland Amnesia so a return to Sixpoint.

Drink the Old Dan - I've kept one for ages before and it didn't seem to taste any different to a fresher bottle. Not worth keeping IMO....

    I'm on a Fuller's Wild River. Hops

There is a reason I'm ageing Old Dan.
For a while I've been trying to work out why I remembered Old Dan as much better than I the bottles I drank recently.

Then I remembered how I had first drank it.
This is going back 20 odd years though.
It was at a sports club that had awful Twaites keg
and they had run out of bottled Guinness and I spotted some dusty bottles
they were the preferred drink of the previous steward and hadn't been touched for about seven years.

    Perhaps they need 5+ years

    GK Double Hop Monster
A rather good beer, lacking in aroma but delivered a decent hop flavour and was easy to drink. Should make this their regular IPA .

Titanic Iron Curtain - very nice stout

Nottingham Stout and Porter Trail Part 2.
Met up at the Ned Ludd (one of those so-called craft bars) and began with a Titanic Stout , which I thought was an old friend till I noticed it had been buggered about with chocolate and vanilla. Decent enough but the ordinary stout is so much better.Memo to Mr.Titanic-if it ain't broke don't fix it!!!
Noticed that everybody in the place was drinking it.Newark Branch had descended.
Short bus ride to the Johnson Arms , a pub of great repute which I hadn't been to before. My Stout/Porter intentions went into the bin when I saw Shipstone's Bitter on cask.Absolutely irresistable and a pint went down singing hymns in chorus.
[IMG] Back to the day's topic and the Dancing Duck Dark Drake 4.5% went down a treat.Another offering from a lady brewer.
On to the Victoria at Beeston. A note for anybody thinking of following in my footsteps; forget it. Beeston is in utter chaos with half the roads closed while they lay the new tramway. And the other half not closed are chockful of traffic , nearly impossible to cross. But the Victoria is a glorious pub and I digressed again for a pint of Holden's Black Country Mild , an old friend which never disappoints. Then a Porter ,4.5% from Full Mash brewery at Kimberley.
Back into Beeston and we found the Crown ,like a country pub in the town. Began with Green Duck's Duck Dastardly 4.5% ABV and finished the day with Finns Hall Porter 4.7% , both much enjoyed.

Will probably start with a few cans of something Six Point before moving on to something heavier, darker and possibly smokey.

They make some very good beers. I think my favourite was The Crisp.

They've tried releasing lagers before haven't they? Should probably stick to what they know best

I had an Adnams Spindrift as it was reduced in price, much reduced in flavour compared to the Jarl I had after it

Although now getting punched, aggressively, in the tastebuds by Wild Wildebeest

I have had Unhuman cannonball, heady was better but I'm not sure I would go out of my way to track it down again as there are so many good IPA's in the UK.

Sees Tap House instagram - "new Tiny Rebel beer on, get here early!"
    Gets there early
"sorry it's not on until later this evening"

Luckily I managed to get there and grab one of the last pints. They went through something like 210 pints of it in 3 hours though, crazy.

Deli down the street has gotten a load of 4 week old Brave New World in. Easily a top 3 UK IPA for me.

    Happy days.

Best day of the year so far: making progress with my essay, found money on the pavement, Tiny Rebel announced 4 new beers which don't seem to be April Fools jokes (Red IPA and Czech Lager, mmm), and my beer ritz delivery came (inc. Fantome, Founders RIS, Siren BAs, and Wild Beer/Beavertown sour collab). Can't wait to start drinking later.
