This is one thing I'm jealous of with people in California. This is just about any beer/wine store. I just talked to a guy that came back from a trip and he said all the stores are like this.

Give it time. Things will improve as more beer comes in and people will have to start choosing which beers they want or just go broke.

I can assure you not every store in CA is like this. Based on the shelf, I'm guessing Socal, maybe OC.
I was just there (North bay) and I have a friend between Paso and LA who keeps me up to date. I didn't find any Sucaba, he found it in Albertson's. He got two bottles of Parabola, I saw 0.

In August when I was in Portland/Eugene, I saw Parabola, Sucaba, XV and DDBA just sitting on shelves. In August.

    Things will get better here.

I picked up a Sucaba at Specs Hou this evening. Was surprised it was there. Odell is in too (not to change the subject)

Belmont Station is a great bottle shop, with lots of goodies on the shelves. I'm also quite partial to Bailey's Taproom, which has a great selection of taps (and an excellent web site to see whats on at any given time) but they also sell bottles at costs similar to bottle shops. Last time I was there I picked up several bottles of Cherry Adam from the Wood at Baileys long after it was gone everywhere else.

Also, go and get a drink at the Horse Brass Pub. Reminds me a lot of Draught House, but bigger. Cascade, Hair of the Dog, etc., will also sell bottles, along with tap stuff.

Let me know if you have other questions. I've been a couple times in the last year so, while certainly no expert, I've spent some time drinking in that town.

Fantastic, all those places were on my list. I added your comments. This is gonna be a sweet trip - it's my first time up there.

Yep Belmont Station is where I picked up a XV last summer. Check out Apex and BeerMongers too. Also the Deschutes Brewery/Restaurant is great as well. I don't know if Planete Rouge will still be available, but in Portland you got a shot.

I don't sweat the FSW releases anymore cause Boise is the same way. Its nice walking up to a bar and getting those 12 months out of the year. Including Abyss.
