I'm sure this question has been asked a million times over, but I can't find anything so I will ask that you please humor me. I will be in LA from April 1-3. Can any kind BAs please give me some pointers (i.e. any good beer bars, bottle shops, seasonal beers that will be out that time of year). Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Depending on where you are staying there are lots of great beer bars. These days too many to list all. My favorite bottle shop is Vendome Toluca Lake and I live pretty far from them so I would say it's worth the drive. If you want cool, hard to find bottles (rareish?) Verdugo Bar (also one of my favorite bars) has a to go license and everything bottled can be purchased to take home, and it's usually fairly priced for being a bar. Golden Road Brewery would be a fun place to enjoy the L.A. Sunshine and sit outside drinking sessionable beers.

You couldn't find anything??? I'm gonna call BS. We get at least three of these threads a week. You don't even need to run a search, just scroll down and you'll run into one on every page.

    Start here:

    Cheers!

Angel City is nearby. Buzz is a cool like bottle shop. Eagle Rock and Golden Road aren't too far from downtown. West Hollywood has The Surly Goat.

Why drive? Metro Blue Line will take you right to Beachwood in Long Beach. Red Line will take you to Blue Palms. Purple Line to Beer Belly.

To be fair I didn't really looke, but I figured since I was asking about a specific time of year I might not have much luck. Thanks for the link and I'll check it out.

Don't forget the Gold Line to Stone Pasadena/Congregation Ale House/Haven Gastropub.

Serious question: Have people generally had good experiences on the Blue Line? I've heard (probably just rumors) that it can get a little rough.

It's not the best, but I've had just as rough of experiences on other lines and local buses.

You absolutely have to go to Smog City Brewing. This is going to be a next big brewery. Monkish is great too.

Yea the Blue line experience is no different than any other LA public transport, its all pretty rough. Beats driving though thats for sure. Plus you can get wasted. Oh and its super cheap. Don't believe the hype!

Surly goat website says they don't open until pm, do they ever open early or right at 6?

They pretty much open at 6 or just a couple minutes before if someone unlocks the door. They open at 1 on weekends for an afternoon happy hour.

I'm one of the few folks that take public transportation to/from work. A one day pass will cost you $5. Maybe you want to "experience" the LA traffic, but I recommend the metro and the bars in downtown LA.

There's a Bottle Logic tapping at the Hermosillo in Highland Park tonight if you'd like to check out some brewery offerings without having to drive down to the OC. The Hermosillo is a chill spot with delicious food to complement the draft & decent bottle selection.
