I talked to the owner of Liquor Stop in Highland, he said they would be selling theirs starting next week. Said there would be a 1-2 bottle limit. Anyone else have info on other stores around NWI?

Guys at the Cask n Cellar in Schererville didn't seem to know much when I asked Saturday. He told me to call and ask again tonight. I'll post my findings in a few hours.

as of about 4:00, Delocks in Munster had 14 bottles left, no limit, but you had to buy a Founders product with each bottle purchase, pretty lame. Munster liqours on Hohman Ave had 5 bottles left about 30 minutes ago, but they are charging $10.99 per bottle with no limit.

Pete's Liquor bucket in Merrillville told me a month ago that they weren't doing a list, I went in there today and they asked if I was on their list. I said no, I was told they weren't doing a list. They looked at me with blank stares.

Wow. I think I'll just take my chances and wait it out on the other stores. No way I'm paying $11 a bottle.

I stop in there on a regular basis and get that shit from them all the time. If it wasn't for their decent selection and prices, I'd quit shopping there altogether. The games on the special releases hits a new low with every one.

Liquor Stockhouse in Crown Point had some today....but I won't shop there anymore. Clerk told me they sold out in 15 minutes earlier in the day. As I was getting in my car....saw another guy walk out with some. I do most of my shopping there.

Wiseguys said they're going to do something later....probably a lottery. They'll announce it when they do.

I called Cask n Cellar in Schererville this morning when they opened at 9. Was told that he doesn't know if they will get it today, but to call back later around 3 to check. This guy always says the same thing to me whenever I ask him about any limited release, so I figured I'd call around 1:30 to be sure. When I did, a woman picks up and says that they only had a case, and sold out in an hour around 10! Unreal the lies! Plus, they sold them in 4-packs, not individual bottles. So 6 lucky people who were camping out took home the prize.

I also went to Munster Liquors on Hohman around 6:15 and saw them for $10.99 each. Let the cashier know that they retailed around $20 a 4-pack, to which he told me supply and demand dictates the price. Unfortunately I have a job that doesn't allow me to be at liquor stores the moment they receive their morning deliveries, so it looks like I'll be trading for KBS this year. Unless, of course, I want to drop $44 on a 4-pack.

That's ridiculous. I went into Cask n Cellar at 1130 and asked him about it and he just shook his head and said they never got it. He acted like I was crazy and he'd never heard of KBS before. Guess I'll never shop there again.

Why do I get the feeling that a lot of these places are not just saving the special releases for regulars, but they are also having their friends come in and buy bottles for them to make it look legit.

Well, that's the thing, I am a regular there. Not at Munster Liquors, but definitely at Cask n Cellar. So for them to just sell 6 4-packs within an hour of them opening after telling me that he doesn't know if or when they will get any in is total bullshit. Granted, it was over the phone, but I was there on Saturday asking about KBS, and he definitely knows who I am, but I still got the same confused look as to what KBS is. So they're not selling to regulars because if they did, they'd sell smaller allotments and make a list.

I must say that dealing with releases like this is the worst part of being in this industry...aside from all of the Zombie Dust and Gumballhead questions. It's pretty hard to make sure that everyone employee tells customers the exact same thing.

I handle it like this, I don't sell it right away. I wait two weeks and announce when we're going to sell it (a Wednesday at 6pm for example) and sell all of it in one evening. That way people have notice and can try to make it out after work.

There's no way to make everyone happy with a limited release beer, but outright lying to customers seems like a decidedly poor way to handle the situation.

Judging from that response, it sounds like you work at/operate an establishment that has retail sales of alcohol. As someone who doesn't, I can understand that everyone is not always on the same page when it comes to certain business items. But I don't buy it for something like this. A new employee may be in the dark when it comes to the KBS release, but the guy I was dealing with at Cask n Cellar was approached by me multiple times regarding it. I'm sure they have calls flooding their phone lines asking about when it's being released. They can have a plan and stick to it, and like the post above, just be honest.

This is why I like the way that Wise Guys handles releases...they give at least a 1 week notice of a lottery and what they will have. You put your name in a bag thus giving you the same odds as everyone else, obviously if people bring mules then that changes but overall the releases are smooth and fair to everyone in attendance. There is no calling 4 months ahead of time to get your name on what could be an arbitrary list or dealing with employees that do not have proper information. If at the end of the lottery there are extra bottles then they either re-conduct the lottery or give everyone the chance to buy another bottle if there are more bottles then names.

Yeah, Wise Guys handles it very nicely. Can't complain.

Muncie Indiana is only getting 1 case at each of the 2 stores.. Which is down from the past 3 years where both stores got 3 cases(so 6 total) ... Since they are only getting 1 case.. They are both selling only single bottles and they are 7$ a bottle..

This upsets me as kbs doesn't need to be this limited. It used to sit on the shelf for at least a few hrs... I know I'm not entitled to any beer and should be happy with one bottle.. But I really like the days when I could at least get a four pack and enjoy kbs once a week for a month.. Now I get to have 1.. Yeah.

What makes this worse is cavalier said NW Indiana is getting 32 cases of kbs.. Wonder how many stores are getting multiple cases up there!

If anyone has access to even 1 extra 4 pack I'll be more than happy to pay u for it..

I love that craft beer is growing.. But only getting 1 12oz bottle of a really good beer sucks..

Well I was told Indiana is getting 100 cases total of KBS. So there's that....

Kahns is getting half of what we got last year, despite our Founders numbers going up. I say this every year, Goose Island knows how to handle their beloved BA stout. Founders does not.
