I would. I bought a bomber of BCBCS for around $20 and personaly think KBS is worth about the same amount of $$$.

Actually they don't. Stopped in last week to get a 6'er and they were gone. Some doofus probably bought them.

I would think the higher value is for the two smaller bottles. Gives you added flexibility for how much you open at a time. That flexibility would be worth something, but probably not much.

You got my point. I see people get mad at $10 a 12oz bottle when they flock to a similar beer that's in 22oz bottle for $20. I am curious if it's because the $20 is MSRP for the 22oz as opposed to roughly $5 on the 12oz. Are people more focused on a perception of getting ripped off by the store relative to the brewery?

I always look at relative cost to similar beers and $8-10 for a KBS or bcbs wouldn't affect my purchase decision compared to a $16-20 parabola.

Just catching up on this thread since Tuesday, two things.

    1) @Thoroughbred88 gets mad kudos for starting the thread as a newbie not to use as an info grab, but for sharing as much info as he could. Welcome aboard. Always nice to have positive contributions to the forum here.

    Which leads me to 2)

Was this really a fucking complaint? Some of you are just determined to be insufferable.

I stick to my point. I think your response is unnecessary

Anyone go to the Schaumburg Binnys this morning? They originally had planned for a 9 am release but their shipment of KBS didn't show up until later I guess. Had to head to work so I left and I just called now during my lunch and they're sold out. I think I'm done chasing this beer lol

Evanston 1st Liquors has KBS for $7.99 (limit one). As of an hour ago they were down to the last couple of 4-packs.

Schaumburg put it on sale around 10:00, got mine around 10:15 and just over a case left. I work just down the street and simply stopped in to see if they had it on sale. I like how they do it best, unannounced times, no crazy lines, no twitter, etc. If I happen to stumble upon something there, good for me. If not, oh well...at least I have a chance to get something without a major impact to my life. It kills me to read about people taking days off of work, chasing trucks, etc. What has become of the craft beer craze and what's wrong with only landing two bottles of a very good beer?

Two bottles isn't enough. Need more and more and more. It's the American way. Want, want want

    Couldn't agree more.

It also seems like gathering vast personal cellars has surpassed the simple act of getting good beer to enjoy.
Not to be a hypocrite - because I do have a small cellar (emphasis on small) - but I do rotate through my stock regularly because imo it's there to drink.

When I see some of these liquor store-worthy personal stashes I am both impressed and saddened, because it seems like that's a whole lot of rare beer that was simply collected, and not purchased for consumption. I think the desire to "have" has gotten ahead of the desire to "drink".

Just to be clear: I'm not crapping on anyone's personal stash. Have at it and enjoy. I get the concept of aging, etc. Like I said, those collections are without question drool worthy. I just wish I could get my hands on a fraction of the stuff because I'd like to drink it.

I have stood in long lines for limited releases - and likely will again - it's just that each time it feels weirder and weirder to be doing so.

I might attend this. Is this a ticketed event or just show up and buy it by the glass? Thank you

Just show up and plop your money down. The KBS tends to go fast. Last time they did KBS it tapped at 4, and I got there around 5:30 and was still able to enjoy a couple of snifters. Other times it has disappeared in less than an hour...

Gotcha. Some places do a ticketed event for rare beers i.e. Timothy O'Tooles two evenings ago
