Here's another idea: get a job. Do a 12 step program. My job is not phone jockey; my job is to help the people who walk throught the door, not some beeries 5 towns away who want to chase the Holy Grail of the month.
I wasn't trying to be an ass, just giving an honest perspective from the other side of the world. (You know, the employed one.)

Ah yes. Be my friend, then I'll sell you the limited release beers. Good stuff. I'm sorry but you're on the losing end of this.
And yes, calling us "indigent lazies" is surely going to win you some points on this thread. You're just saying "I'm not convincing you that I'm right so I'm just going to insult you." Seriously man, you look like a child right now. You should probably step away from the keyboard. Also, remind me which store you can work at, so I can remember not to shop there.

Wow. I would love to live in that white, bright, cookie cutter world of yours, where philosphy trumps reality! Great stuff! Would also love to talk to you when 1) you at least pass your 25th birthday and 2) are gainfully employed.
I've been succesful in retail for 20 years precisely because I help the customer standing right in front of me select wine, beer, and spirits for a special dinner, a gathering, or just to stock a bar.
I'm happy with my career and working in the wine business, just not keen about jockeying a phone. Did that as 24 year old and it was the worst job ever.

You know, I love the anonymity of these threads for precisely the reasons you just outlined. I'm not trying to "win points" here, merely offer you a perspective you clearly never considered.
It's not even a function of "be my friend", its a function, "I've never seen you in this store before, but I'm supposed to cut you in ahead of my good customers?"

No, see here you're wrong. We are accustomed to people asking for stuff all the time. When we can, any decent store will special order beer for you or if its a chase item the more we see you the more we'll look out for you! Pick a store, any store but always feel welcome!

No one's asking to be cut in front of anyone. I'm not sure where you're reading that. If you have something like KBS set aside for regulars, say so. If not, say you have it. If you're with a customer, tell the person on the phone to please hold, or maybe redirect your phone to voicemail when you're w/ a customer. I'm really not sure where all your anger is coming from. I know you're complaining about people five towns away, but guess what, some people don't have good beer shops nearby to call. I live in Middlesex County, and there's only store within 15 minutes of driving with a good selection and fair prices and he doesn't take waiting lists. If that was my only go-to store, I would have scrambled trying to find some.

I know you're saying "it's just beer," and that's true to an extent, but KBS is a top-five beer in the world. Obviously it has a following. Maybe you should educate yourself on the products you sell and prepare accordingly instead of whatever you're doing now.

Why is it rude? 1) Its cheaper than therapy (and so much more effective) and 2) I would like to think that even the most self centered customers in the universe, beeries, would be inclined to learn a thing or two about being aware of thw orld arouond you.

I was wrong to say its "just beer". Beer is great; I love Ayinger Oktoberfest as a personal choice. I can sell beer but have guys here who live it and love it and can talk it all day long, so I don't engage it so much. (My passion's wine, anyway.) The "anger" isn't so much a function of customers but frustration with the sense of entitlement I see on these boards. And, with due resect, I've been in retail 20 years; you're not teaching me any skills I don't already possess and utilize every day in your post. As I stated in another post, this is like therapy but cheaper and more direct.

Please find a post in this three page thread where anyone sounds entitled. I read through the entire thread and found no one saying they were or felt entitled to anything.

Oh, and as far as you saying "this is like therapy but cheaper and more direct." You're basically just an asshole. I've worked in retail too. When I want to vent, I vent with my coworkers after work, or anyone that wants to lend an ear. I don't go to my customer base and bash them like what you're doing now.

    Here:
Yeah, wishing death and destruction or ruination because Founders forced stores to adopt one bottle polices. Glad you "read through the entire thread".

Maybe not so much figured out, but experienced. Why is it when people have a couple of sheckles in their pocket civility goes out the window?

Really? An asshole for being honest with you? If you REALLY worked in retail, you would relish the opportunity to tell people to behave a little better. And, not for nothing, YOU ARE NOT MY CUSTOMER BASE!!!!!

This thread is about to be closed. You all should really be putting your anger to Founders for distributing such low numbers of the beer. Whats the point?

Obvious exaggeration is hardly having a sense of entitlement. And even if it was, its what, one post out of three pages? Please dude. I'm on this forum regularly and the community here is generally great and not full of ***** like you.

And no, you're an asshole for saying "waaaaaah my phone is ringing a lot" when you work at a goddamn store. WTF is wrong with you dude? You're an asshole for calling people basement dwellers and "indigent lazies." Is it clear why you're an asshole now?

Also, there are many people that frequent these forums from distribution, store ownership/management, and the breweries themselves. You're not educating anyone on anything they don't already know. Now fuck off. Dick.

So, I say "indigent lazies" and you call me an "asshole". I list an obnoxious post from another poster, and instead of acknowledging it (and the 5 users who "liked" it), you call me a "****". Then you presume to speak for other retailers, brewers, and the like, finally exhorting me to "fuck off." Oh, and "dick".
This is why I post the things I post. Grow up. Lose weight. Shave off your grizzly, greasy beard. Get a job. Move out of your parents' basement. Get sober.
