Grabbed a couple of bottles of Greene King Suffolk Strong to throw in a cupboard and forget about
has that sugary profile that I think might make it age

Siren 7 Seas - big fuck off chocolate to add to the massive C hops. This is how a Black IPA should be done.

(Bleach & Instesticide, the last time I was instep & current)
and drinking bottle of Happy Valley's Sworn Secret
which reminds me of a bitter that I've forgotten

    Losing all cool completely now
    Sham 69 playing
    and drinking Mallinson's Alias
a brewery that seems deliberately out of step

Back to topic, delivering "Nottingham dinker" magazines yesterday , took a few dozen to the Royal Oak at Car Colston again.......right out in the sticks but buzzing with customers.
It's a Marston's pub and a good place to judge their beers because the cellaring and care are always letter perfect.Began with the EPA , decent enough stuff to deal with thirst , then tried the ordinary Bitter which I've always enjoyed in the past. Disappointing, there was no Burton Snatch and the taste was rather like brown sugar.Perhaps a bad batch. Then Brakspear Bitter , as good and crisp as ever was.To finish I tried their Pedigree New World , a very distinctive brew full of tropical flavours and seriously fighting above its 3.8% ABV. It uses Australian hops and I was assured they are all added to the copper upside down. I quite enjoyed it and I'm not sure I should have. Wouldn't want to drink a lot of it though.
In common with many of our country inns where most customers get there by car , the selection was all session strength. Anything much stronger doesn't sell well.

Thanks to B&M's I am able to sample one of those hideous looking Dead Crow Beers that you see in four packs
by buying a single bottle 79p
I should have just thrown my money away
This isn't beer, this is a sugary abomination.

Be warned, TSA have rebranded their beers Black Wolf Brewery. Avoid at all costs, unless they have somehow managed to gain the ability to make them taste nice.

    Glencoe is okay
William Wallace manages the incredible feat of being a bigger insult to that name than Braveheart
the other two I haven't seen or drank the other two
Lomond I would avoid eating yellow snow

though the ale I have isn't that much better Shropshire Lass
bit of hops bit of malt
    just not enough of anything

I foisted the bottle I picked up on a fellow partygoer last night, he didn't mind it. I think the sambuca, jagermeister beforehand might have helped his appraisal somewhat.
