I am headed up to the Mercer area to do some fishing next week and was wondering if there was any decent liquor stores in the area. I know I should be able to get some New Glarus fairly easily, but was curious if there might be anything else worth the effort that I cannot get in NWI/Chicago.

    Thanks for looking!

Ironwood had some decent selection last time I was up that way, quite a few bars and I believe the main grocery store had an alright selection. You definitely are NOT going to be blown away up there, although, you may find some hidden CW surprises....

What brings you to Mercer specifically? Family, friends cottage?

Trig's grocery store in Minocqua has a pretty decent selection.

I was just going to suggest making a trip to the Keweenaw at some point in time. We have one of the best Walleye lakes (Gratiot Lake), and stocked Brown and Rainbow Trout lakes in the U.P. in Lake Perrault and Lost Lake. Not to mention we are in the middle of Lake Superior with some of the best lake trout not more than 3 or 4 miles off shore...plus 4 quality brew pubs, and some really good beer bars! Enjoy your vacation though!

I agree with this. Had to go up there a few weeks ago for work, and this grocery store was the last reasonable one before getting to my destination about 45 minutes away. Decent walk-in cooler, tons of New Glarus, and a reasonable selection of other stuff.

Thanks for the advice...I was able to find some decent NG brews (IIPA, Barley Wine, Cranbic, Tart, Belgian Red, Cherry Stout, etc) and other good WI locals. Scored some Oskar Blues as well; pretty much skunked out fishing, but worth the trip regardless.
