Curious what happened to the other more recently active MC/BAMC thread.

That's a good question, because I had started that one and noticed that it was gone, too. My guess is that it had been thread-jacked and either the BA Bros or Westbrook didn't like what had happened. Regardless, MC should make an appearance in May and the BA Cakes in July, according to Westbrookbrewing.com.

Here's to hoping MC will be around during May 23-27!

I'm pretty sure it's because one BA suggested that another BA not be "butthurt", which of course was unecessary.

Not as unnecessary as deleting a productive thread with useful information and discussion in it.

How soon after brewery release is it in distribution? Also what's the furthest south anyone has seen distribution? I live in Tampa and hoping that I can hit somewhere on the FL\GA border. Although I imagine tighter bottle limits there vs the brewery.

The BA stuff didn't leave the brewery.

Regular Mexican Cake makes it to GA, and gets distributed to most places that carry Westbrooks main stuff.

I know it makes it to the shelf in Atlanta. The shit heads about town will probably truck chase this beer too, and make it a timed release, or a ticket release and make it not even worth trying to enjoy a bottle.

It's funny. This beer sat around on the shelves last year, never had a problem finding it. Now, it seems like the hype is growing considerably. Can't wait for the release....

Hmm... If it only makes it as far south as Atlanta (with all that drama), Westbrook is only like a 30 minute longer drive (according to google maps). Guess I just need to decide if I want to make the trip for the regular or BA release (I wish I could do both).

Brewery bottle limits last year were a case for regular and 3 for BA, right?

    Don't give them any ideas.

On the bright side, Westbrook seems to make lots of Mexican Cake. Hopefully the shipment can withstand the vultures. Those of us who work can't follow trucks all over town to suck up the inventory.

I have a feeling it's going to be bad this year. Seems as if anything with a REMOTE amount of hype is being mishandled here in the ATL these days. I had no problem getting a few bottles last year but am already planning on trying to get to Westbrook around the release just to avoid the shit show here in the city.

I brew.. shot me some recipes and I'll make it happen!

I don't think MC will be that wild here, atleast I hope not. I just need a few bottles for me and a couple to some good trading partners, and call it a day.

And therein lies the issue. You need a "few", and then a "couple" for trading partners. That's 5 bottles, depending on your definition of those words.

Sorry to sound like a guy whose name rhymes with "Bing", or an old fart here, but "back in the day" people would grab a bottle or two, maximum and go on their way. Sure, there were a few bad eggs out there who would buy the store out of a bottle, but that was the exception, not the rule.

These days, everyone "needs" multiple bottles of everything. And just so we're clear, I'm not picking on Fatc1ty or anyone else individually, please don't take it personally or as such. I'm just commenting that this is the general mindset in the craft beer community nowadays & therefore bottles are gone before they're here because everyone is chasing beer from store to store, truck to truck.

I can handle people within the craft community buying multiples for partners, etc. In general (not always, but generally) those individuals try to spread purchases out so they're not depleting one store and at the same time giving everyone a chance... at least that's what I do when looking for a larger than normal share. The problem, especially here in Atlanta, is that craft is becoming popular in the 'bro scene' so anything with a slight whiff of hype is being chased all over town. Last week was a perfect example (BA Panther, BA Evil Twin, Against the Grain, etc). Great beers, but they're not whales. I understand purchase limits, but to have ticketed and/or timed releases all over town was ridiculous.

No not picking on my part. It's a perpetual cycle. I don't hoard beer, and I rarely find myself chasing much down unless I know it's something I enjoy.

I enjoy trading from time to time- I also enjoy holding on to some bottles and opening when family is in town and having a good time. 3-4 bottles of MC would be ideal, but doubtful I can get that.

If there were 4 bottles left on the shelf at the store, I assure you, I wouldn't take all 4. I'll grab the last one if there is just one, but hoarding for the sake of the chase and gloating.. I'll pass.

The problem around here, is stores doing "timed and ticketed" releases.. It just hypes up shit, and makes people stand around. Maybe it'll be a deterrent.
