Ah now I got it. So you've only skipped one PWs offering that is some awesome stuff right there! Let us know who is the victor in Toasty Nut v Prop when that goes down. The barrel makes them diff beers but it'll be fun.

It's been a lot of fun to experience the creativity and taste Pipeworks develop over the past couple years. We even ended up with a good bottle of Blue Lady. Thinking back I think some of my favorites have been:

    Brother Razbeardo
    Beejay's Wierdo Brown
    Galaxy Unicorn
    Coffee Abduction
    Poivre Rose
    Brotherhood Patersbier

I'm still a little under a year in my PWs devotion; but I fully agree with your assessment on the experience and the enjoyment their beer creates. My top 6 list goes a little different; but I also haven't tried Razbeardo, Poivre Rose nor Patersbier (I'd have bought that one but I think it came out prior to my commitment to PWs), anyways here goes:

    Square Grouper
    Amarillo
    Citra
    Simcoe
    Last Kiss
    Toasty Nut

I'm looking forward to pairing EBvU with Cadbury Eggs (the original, those other kinds are posers)

going to be in town on Monday 4/21, is it difficult to locate any of pipeworks beers, or is there a store that seems to have them pretty consistantly

Look at their website, they list all the retailers that carry their beers.

Keep in mind that Pipeworks has no year round or seasonal beers. Everything essentially a one off or randomly recurring beer. On average the bottle 2 or 3 a week and usually one is new. As far as where to go, really a complete guess. Binnys are usually a good bet. West Lakeview usually gets a good allotment because they have a history with the owners. Otherwise, the stores that get the most also sell through it the quickest, so its hard to say. Usually you are only going to see the beers that they have made in the past few weeks, any older bottles sitting around are there for a reason.

@Pipeworks - I understand that the majority, if not all, of your beers can be cellared (it says so on the bottle!) but which do you feel would taste the best being cellared and would have the greatest benefit of being cellared? I have an imperial hyper dog that I've been cellaring since day one but not sure when I would want to try it. Thank you for your advice.

I did this with half the bottle. It was pretty fantastic. I think I preferred it a little more this way than I did just straight.

I had both, not at the same sitting, but not too far apart and TNA blew Prop out of the water.

we starting taking the cellar qualification off the labels since our bottling technology was less than lacking (see picture of meheen above, which is our solution to that). Many of our bottles have held up since day one 2 years ago... but because of our said lack of technology we realized we weren't having consistent results with shelf life. The first beers bottled in the meheen will be next week! And pending some in-house test results we may start adding cellar worthy to bottles once again.

    - Coffee Beers (stouts) can usually cellar for 1 year max in my opinion... after that the coffee starts to drop significantly.
    - Same goes for the hoppy Barley Wines... at one year they are a pretty good example of an American BW IMO... after that too much oxidation for me
    - Our smoked porters cellar really well!
    - I would say Murderous and Last Kiss would be the best cellar options from us at the moment. Closer Encounter is pretty good too after a year.

Just had the first batch of Orange truffle abduction and the orange was completely gone sadly. Still quite enjoyable regardless.

we fixed that on the second batch... the orange should last longer in that one.

again, we can't wait to get the production facility up and running... better equipment, a lab, new toys, 16oz cans... we'll have so much more freedom both creatively and financially (resulting in a better product).
