    Hmmmm.
Considering almost nothing listed is actaually a whale, ill chime in. Just because a famished man in the desert considers Coors Light a great whale, doesnt make it so.

Id say Dirty Horse, which ive been chasing since I started on here, in 2006. Lucky for me, me quest shall soon Be over, maybe even 2!

It isnt a Whale if a little bit of effort will get it. Think the amount of time required to actaully chase the great white whale, Moby, it was months. Every single beer listed in this thread, besides Loerik earlier, and me and dirty horse, can be obtained with 2 days effort. Really, think what 16 work hours will gain you if you use just a little imagination.

Youre completely missing the concept of the whale, I mean go read a book about it at least.

The most important part about the whale search is after actually slaying it, that huge empty portion of your soul will cease to exist. You dont get to have 2 white whales. Ahab doesnt survive, so neither do you. Its one and done, like the entire Kentucky basketball team, go Huskies, its awesome to be uconn student this week even when you bomb your advanced physics exam.

And speqking of Whales, and then ships, theres a reason that many many people are jumping this one.

Right now mine is Heady Topper & only because my wife is currently working in the New England area (NH) & I have sent her on the hunt to find this beer. I know this is a tough one to track down, but I'm having so much fun sending her from place to place. The more I ask about her luck, the madder she gets....

Now please don't judge me & say I'm being too rough on my gal, she & I have been married 25 yrs, so this little venture is all in fun:wink:!!!....To make matters worse, every store she stops at tells her they do not carry the product, but they have a different kind that "tastes just like it"...Haha, we all know that old trick!!! And each time I have to tell her, "no, I don't want that other brand, I want HT, so keep looking"!!!...

Poor girl, I will pay dearly for this adventure!! Looks like a trip to the jewelry store when she gets home...Heehee

Personally I think it's fine for people to have any beer they want as their white whale. Personal circumstances, location, luck and taste all play a part. KBS may be straightforward for you to acquire. Maybe not so for someone else. And I don't think anyone can claim they're after beer X because it took their leg off at the knee, so we don't need to stay too closely aligned to Moby Dick.

On the two day thing - you should probably add a disclaimer that someone would need to already own significant trade bait or be willing to drop stupid money buying from a dbag online seller. I don't know how someone would be able to get hold of a BVDL (mentioned in this thread) in two days for example, without one of these.

I have two. Dark Lord and Darkness. I'm convinced I'll never come across those or get to try them.

Cherry Rye Bourbon County. One bottle was randomly at a NYC bar where my girlfriend's boss was throwing a party and paid for all drinks.

So not only Cherry Rye Bourbon County, but FREE Cherry Rye Bourbon County.

Also having some Cantillon and Westy 12 shipping here at the moment, but I still think Cherry Rye is rarer than those.

I'd say the 3 top white whales for me would have to be:
    Midnight Sun M
    Lost Abbey Cable Car Kriek
    Veritas 005

There are some things that I want more, but they have been made more recently and will probably be much easier to acquire than these 3!

For me its BA Abraxas . I've been trying to land it for a while with no luck. Offered up over 100$ of awesome beers and still got crickets. I seen it on another site for 300$ but there's no way in hell I would ever pay that much for a beer. Hopefully one day my taste buds will be blessed with the taste of the sweet nectar that is BA Abraxas:grinning:
