Had a great English IPA tonight, Wye Valley Dorothy Goodbody's Glorious IPA. 6% but drank like a 3% with the full body of a DIPA. Not as big on the hops obviously but the fruitiness definitely took the front seat, meaning it was lovely and drinkable without being bland in the slightest. I'd take it over most big bottled IPAs any day of the week actually.

Is anyone doing a "proper" IPA at the moment in the UK?

i.e - all pale malt, hopped to the living fuck with goldings, aged for a year and a bit with brett, and finishing drier than a nuns growler?

Wash yourself down with coal tar soap when you get home.

I'm now on Fyne's Sanda Blonde IPA.

15 beers in the first round, 12 in the final. Personally I thought the Belgian Ale with Ginger and a shed load of other spices was outstanding, any brewer would have been proud to release that as a Xmas beer.

I was a judge in the Speciality class last year-everything from very hoppy strong PA to a vanilla wheat with some dark beers in between! Yet we were able to come to a quick 1st and 2nd consensus. Yet the BJCP think you have to separate all entries into really narrow compartments to judge them.
    Only 10 beers though!
