How high do you fill your glass or snifter ?

3/4 3 fingers of head for IPA. Any other high gravity ale or specialty beer especially stouts I only pour half the bottle into the glass and enjoy slowly.

I went to the top with my snifter last night while drinking an Enjoy By. It was a bit hard to handle, it's a 20oz snifter and to use it properly it works best with 16oz or less in the glass. I was thinking about this today, so funny to see it, I won't be going to the top again.

 

I never really thought about this until now. Sincere thanks for the insight. I'm always looking for ways to get the most out of the experience.

 

I'd consult method and red

 

I drink from the bottle, swish it around in my mouth, and spit it back into the glass and then drink it.

Depends, Usually I leave 1/4-1/3 free for enjoyment, but have been known to fill to the brim at times (rare but happens).

 

To the rim just like I do with my wife's ice cold white zinfandel

 

For a pint glass I fill it to the top, or the full 12 oz. of any of standard beer bottles. For a 16-oz. snifter I pour until it becomes visually pleasing including the head, and that normally means about 3/4 of the glass (which usually is nearly all of a 12-oz. bottle).

 

I use a chalice. So I pour the entire 12 ounce beer in. If a bomber, just top off my chalice as I drink. Real talk.

Depends on the glass, style and several other variables. I have a spreadsheet to track it. But in summary, between 4.3 and 21.7 millimeters from the top of the glass.

 

You should pour and drink your beer the way you would as if nobody was watching or cared.
