Firestone Walker - Parabola 2014

You find that in nj? Didn't know parabola made it to is yet

 

I prefer Parabola aged. Tastes better and smoother. Picked up a bottle last night in NY, Brooklyn. I saw a whole bunch of Firestone Walker Double DBA bomber boxes for sale in the fridge (great beer by the way). Thought they were the 2014 Parabola but wishful thinking. They did have one 2013 Parabola which I did gratefully buy. Great weekend so far, buying Black Note, KBS, and bourbon barrel Wulver, all in bottles. Had Wulver on tap and from cask with Jalapeño. Amazing.

Lot of merkin. I doubt it will age all that well but that's my opinion. I have two left out of the seven I picked up. Probably going to finish those off in a couple weeks.

I had 2012 parabola on tap and cracked open a 2012, 2013, and 2014 bottle and imo the 2012 is amazing! I think I like last years a bit more than this years but I'm sure it'll blend well in the next couple of years.

 

Hasn't hit in south Jersey yet. Im on 4 different waiting lists when it does

Had a 2014 Parabola at a tasting on Friday. It absolutely destroyed the 2013 BCBS by everyone's account who was there. BCBS ages better imo but damn Parabola fresh can not be beat. I thought this was the best yr yet.

 

Good news! I have a couple of bottles coming my way via trade. Will drink one upon arrival and cellar the other.

 

NY and Va get FW stuff, and so does PA. Parabola is only a Ca release?

 

That's what I've been hearing too, though when you're at the stratospheric levels of Parabola and BCBS, I have a hard time saying either is the lesser. In vertical comparisons, 2012 was certainly better than 2013 Parabola as well, so I wasn't sure what to expect this year. It'll be interesting to try this year's, with all the ballyhooing it's receiving. I've heard reports ranging from good to religious experience euphoric (no overstatement whatsoever, I'm sure).

As for aging, I have one in the cellar but I don't think I'll put too much age on it. I've never noticed that much of a difference with aged Parabola. My cellar is kind of busting at the seams anyway, so I'm kind of obligated to relieve the overcrowding. I do what I can.
