No one's going to care for a couple cases of beer. And there's no passport or whatnot at the Swiss border -- they joined the Schengen treaty for unfettered travel. Within the EU, there is actually no limit as long as it's for your own consumption. Above a certain volume, an official might doubt that you're not planning to resell, but that would be like a van full.

 

Can someone please explain why the reservation times on the current schedule are X'd out, but there are corresponding pick-up times for next week? I will be visiting the abbey next Tuesday and was hoping to reserve a case tomorrow. http://www.sintsixtus.be/bierverkoopactueel.htm

Call with as many cellphones as you can find and be sure the cellinfo is visible for the monks...else you will not get a connection. You will have to have a lot of patience cause it will take some time to get trough....if you get trough!

OK, that makes sense, I am sure he has earned it. Planning to be in the area that day, but with Struise closed and little chance to reserve Westvleteren, I may just check out In de Vrede.

 

You do not want to know what Thijs has to do to get that treatment

But, if you want. Try sending the guys at Struise a message on facebook. Or possibly going to the website and using the contact form. Worst they will do is say "no sorry we do not have the time"

 

Meet me at cafe in de Vrede around 13.00 pm wednesday and you will be able to get inside the abbey with me and after that Urbain will not be angry if you join me for a few beers......

 

Too bad we can't meet up on Tuesday--I would love to bring some beers from the U.S. to share.
