    People are missing the obvious--
FFF doesn't want to sell growlers. Growlers are a pain in their ass.
I've been in the pub when it was packed full and seen some guy ask for 6 growlers filled... Now a bartender is busy filling a growler rather than helping customers. The ONLY tap handle for that beer going into the growler is now unavailable to fill glasses.

FFF puts their prices in such a way that the prepackaged bottles are CHEAPER than a growler fill.
    They refuse to refill growlers.

Seriously, isn't it obvious that they'd rather sell you the bottles? Oh, they'll sell you a growler too, but you're going to pay a premium to make it up to them.

This is the right answer. I didn't mean to start a huge derail, I was just trying to be informative.

Jesus. I feel like all the breweries around me will fill plastic milk jugs for you if you ask nice enough.

I've seen a few people in this thread say that they were told bottles are cheaper than growlers by a bartender/waiter. I just want to point out that a growler is 64oz so that equates to just over 5 12oz bottles of beer or just under 3 bombers. So please, for the good of the future of our country, do the calculations yourself.

I've only gotten a couple growler fills (1 being Zombie Dust before it was bottled), but I think if you are getting a beer that is bottled in bombers, it is worth it. I think it is (was) about $24 for something that they sell for $10/bomber. But if your are talking about $20+ for a growler of ZD now, which can be had for $35/case, clearly not worth it.

Point being, just ask how much a growler is and make your own call.

$30 for a growler of dreadnaught.
    $10 for a bomber.

3 bombers is 2 more ounces for the same price.

Math isn't hard, and the employees aren't lying.

Is there nothing on draft that they don't bottle? When I pick up a Growler of something its usually not something I can find in a six pack down the beer isle at Meijer.

There are usually a few options (2-4) on draft that they do not bottle (or rarely bottle). But those typically are not available for growler pours.

Alewatcher, now that they have a nook for selling merch, beer, and have dedicated taps for growler fills, don't you think its strange they don't just have their employees to clean growlers brought in, and refill out into said (pre-)cleaned growler? The point of a growler is to allow locals the ability to easily get great beer, instead of wasting glass. I honestly cant see why they have a caveminded approach to the environment, they might as well not even offer growlers."Just buy it in bombers! Its cheaper, anyway!"

my experience at FFF or anywhere in life, act like a douche and get douche treatment in return. You treat people with respect, listen to instruction, then you get treated fairly.

Not refilling your OWN growlers is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Why would I want to continually buy a growler jug - so it can sit on a shelf? I worked at a brewery for years - the beer is amazing and it is a brewery that is commonly compared to 3 Floyds - we filled all growlers b/c we wanted people to enjoy and drink our beer. We even cleaned people's growlers for them to make sure the taste wasn't f'd by not having a clean container.

I guess I'll just use my non-refillable growlers from 3 Floyds and bring them to other breweries that will actually fill them.

    DUMBBBBB.

This is an old thread. Pretty sure they haven't done any growlers in quite awhile.

I'm making my first trip there next month myself. Will be going on a Saturday, what should I expect as far as wait goes? What is a realistic amount of time before you are sat and begin indulging once you arrive at the brewpub? Is there a better time frame to arrive where its not as bad? Also, same with the carryout counter. Do you usually have to wait there? Lets say you get there and its a two hour wait to be sat, can someone from the group wait in line to buy shit to go in the mean time (while you wait for a table)?

Also, no growler fills at all?

    1. Saturday will be crowded from open until close. Every weekend is different though so the best time to get there is when you get there
    2. Wait times vary...anywhere from walk right up sit right down to 1hr 45min+. All depends on when you get there, how many in your group, and how quickly tables are getting turned.
    3. Your whole group "typically" needs to be there when you name is called and that is all that matters. There really is no line but rather, a "gathering" out front waiting for names to be called. So the short answer is that all of you can go get "shit" from the to-go, go to your car, and not worry about jumping lines. (if you were referring to getting beers while waiting then the answer is no.)
    4. Still no growler fills at this time.

Thanks man, appreciate all the good info! I saw two case limit per person. Is that per beer or total? Can you get a case of Alpha King, Zombie, and Gumball or does it not work like that? If you grab two cases of regular six packs can you not get bombers then?

Total crap shoot. I was there this past saturday mid afternoon (to buy a DL moscatel). There were open spots in the parking lot. Only a hand full of people waiting outside. I was able to get a single seat at the bar to have one beer while I was there, but would have waited with a larger group. Weather may have had something to do with it, was one of the first nice days this spring, so people may have wanted to do something outside.

Two case total. I once tried to buy 2 cases and a bomber and they wouldnt allow it. You no longer get a case discount, so $10 a 6 pack whether you buy one or eight.

You do still get a bomber case discount. 12 for the price of 10. But it has to be an entire case of one thing.

Cool, I suppose you can just grab eight sixers and have someone else grab bombers for ya. Is there a bomber limit if you are not buying any six packs?
