There ya go - Hough's isn't listed as a sponsor, maybe they opted out & are handling their own promo.

Based on the ticket prices of some of these events it seems as though the OFFICIAL PITTSBURGH CRAFT BEER WEEK HEADQUARTERS is going to be my wallet, and not the half dozen venues claiming that title.

    Them sahrs ain't cheap.

Also, I find it interesting that no breweries have shown up as sponsors.

Well since this sponsor crap is keeping us from having any decent place to find events that are occurring on craft beer week, I guess we gotta just keep each other updated on here. Anything interesting I hear about, I'll post on here. I've thought of trying to have a thread on here to update each other on unique beers that giant eagle gets, especially good ones like the one in glenshaw if anyone is interested in that

I can't say I'm thrilled with how things are being handled by PCBW this year.

To be a member of the 'PCBW craft beer alliance' you have to pay dues... which are around $100 I believe.

These dues allow for ??? well, not really sure to be honest... I guess the ability to even have a PCBW event...BUT you have to be a paid sponsor for PCBW to advertise your event on their site and social media.

So for example: A PCBW tap take over is happening at a local bar near you... it would cost them minimum $600 to be a PCBW sponsor and have the event appear on the PCBW calander and Facebook/Twitter...

Not worth it for the local bar, as they would lose money to try and be a part of PCBW.

So the the smaller bars and breweries are suffering.

The way I view it: Look at the sponsors. Those are the organizations that are making money hand over fist on craft beer.

If this doesn't change, I can't imagine PCBW continuing in the future.

Here are the final details for the Hop Farm/ Box Office Brew Review event. [IMG]
The sad reality: Originally there was going to be a showing of the film the Royal Tenenbaums, followed by an after- bottle release- party at the brewery.

The cost of the theater, film, PCBW sponsorship made it so that rather than having a really fun; over the top PCBW event, it became far to cost prohibitive.

The beer is fantastic and there are an extremely limited amount of bottles. I hope that everyone has a chance to attend this bottle release.

I wonder if there could be an alternative for a centralized calendar that would include events that aren't sponsored & "sanctioned" by PCBW. The calendars on BA here have become all but useless. Craft Pittsburgh's website has one, but I don't know if Tim would be okay with using it for that.

When I was helping with PCBW Tim was also involved. I would assume he still is, and if thats the case Im not sure he would go "over their heads".

I got our tickets for the Release the Firkins event tonight that's going to be at Highmark on 5/3.

If anyone else is going, let me know.

Food was pretty scarce last year, but worse was the lack of space to eat it. Though I've heard they are using more of the space at the venue this time around.

Right now I've got tix to: Firkins, Ho1k Sour-fest, and Voodoo/Lavery/BBQ @ Carson St. Deli

anyone know of any events for Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week that will feature Bells Black Note? Or any barrel aged offerings from Bells? I have never had black note and still would love to try it some time so any info would be appreciated. They had it somewhere last year and I missed out so I don't want to miss it again. Checked the PCBW website and found nothing there

Bell's didnt sponsor, so check Bell's website for events (their rep posted a link in this thread).

If you fail to find any and are attending an event I'll be at, let me know...I'll hook you up with an older bottle.

Thanks! i'd be happy to reimburse you in terms of beer or money if you want. What events are you leaning towards being at? I plan to be at the voodoo barrel room event at House on May 3rd and probably one or two trips to Caliente for some events too
