I'm curious what you guys think. How much help (additional bottle or bottles) would a DB Huna need to maybe get a rare? Or, is there any chance a DB Huna could snag GI Prop x2?
I haven't really seen any DB Huna trade, so I really have no idea what its trade value is.

    Thanks

I think you would have to put something pretty nice on top of a DB Huna to land a RARE. Think of your $25 DB Huna vs a $65 RARE. They both are about the same rarity IMHO so I would think you would have to add. Try posting up either of your trades and see what happens. Someone might go for it. Good luck but yah I think you have to add for at least the RARE.

I'm certainly no person who knows the value of these beers to everyone so take that in mind. Just my opinion.

I guess I don't know. I may be undervaluing DB Huna. I do have some so I am not trying to devalue it or anything. I just traded a RARE and a DB Huna (basically $95 of rare beer) for the three Cantillon Lou Pepe bottles (~$90). I probably could have offered less but I guess I just like to get trades done and not wait too long for the right person and we were both happy with the trade. Put your offers up and see what happens.

This is kind of an interesting thought experiment.

My gut tells me the following...

If DB Huna was released 4 years ago and GI Rare was release 2 months ago, I don't think there would be any reason why it wouldn't work 1:1.

But because it's the other way around, I just don't know. It's hard to understand/predict what sort of effect 4 years since release has on counts/desirability/tradeability.

God forbid flavor should enter into the trading formula.

Never having DB Huna, but having 1 Rare left and having had it in the past 6 months and being in the camp that it is certainly on the down slope, I still wouldn't trade it for a DB Huna.

I would bet money that DB Huna tastes better than Rare right now. It's not like I'm holding out looking for something else for my Rare. It's not for trade. And there's no rational reason why it's not.

I'd keep the DBH. We did a tasting on Sunday....

    Double Barrel Hunahpu
    Rare
    King Henry
    Proprietors

DBH was my favorite of the bunch.

I've done all of those somewhat recently, and my order would go DB Huna, King Henry, Prop, Rare.

I'd say Prop and KH were interchangeable in terms of tastiness though.

We had a tasting a couple weeks ago
    DB Huna
    BCBCS
    Leon
    Prop.
    Brandy Huna
DB Huna was my favorite just barely
Over the BCBCS. I was surprised how
much better it was than Brandy Huna
We have a full Goose island tasting coming
Up and am looking forward to that.

Rare $4$ with DB Huna would be DB Huna + for Rare, when it gets down to the fact that both beers are hard to get if not impossible now, both beers are exclusive in some way (DB Huna release only, Rare released once in 2010) both are spectacular at 100 BA score (even if rare is falling off it still has allure), why doesn't it make sense to do $4$.

we can go back and fourth all day in the battle between taste and rarity, but when it gets down to it both beers are comparable in this messed up value we place on them outside of $ value, so why not use that?

DB Huna +some local shelf stuff has happened for rare several times. It's a much better beer right now. Rare is 4+ yrs old at this point.

As someone with a DB Hunah, I would not trade it for a rare.

If I had another DB Hunah, I would be drinking it to the face right now.

Rare was released on Black Friday in 2010 so that's not quite 4 years ago.

I gave up DB Huna for Rare 1:1 and its been done several times on the forum. Had a few DBH's so it didnt bother me. Traded another DBH for Remy's Pappy and a third for Mocha Wednesday ++.

I dont think you'll snag 2 Props with a DBH but it cant hurt to try...

Just for academic purposes, was this before or after Huna Day?

The Leon was awesome. A friend had been saving it for
