Tried KBS for the first time last night (opened one of my bottles). I really enjoyed it. Comparing it to BCBS, which I'm not sure is fair because they are different beers, KBS is slightly thinner as others have said, but not thinner in a bad way IMO. I think maybe because KBS is 11% instead of 15% ABV, it doesn't have the alcohol tinge and in-your-face bourbon that BCBS has, and it's not as much of a flavor explosion as BCBS.

That being said it has delicious chocolate notes and I got a nice taste of the coffee. My favorite part is that this beer is amazingly drinkable for bourbon barrel aged stout at 11.2% ABV. I drank my glass of KBS twice as fast as my previous times sipping BCBS. I think the are both equally great beers. I would give the slight edge to BCBS but I would definitely recommend trying KBS or searching for it if you haven't had and you enjoy this style. Also, and I know this has been discussed ad-naseaum in other threads, I am more inclined to give Founders my money than Goose (AB InBev) Island, even though I would jump off my high horse in a second to purchase more of either of these beers. Cheers guys!

I talked to a JJ Taylor Craft manager and I think they are getting like 10 cases total. No idea what stores...

So...Black Note? Bottles, kegs? Not certain, but it sounds like the spot I frequent in Sarasota will not get any. What have you heard?

I found Black Note at the Total Wine on Colonial in Orlando, they only had a few left 30 minutes ago. Price was $6.99 a bottle, 1 bottle per person. The other Total Wine said they should be getting it tomorrow.

Looks like South Florida got passed up yet again, since Gold Coast handles our dist and didn't manage to get any.

Its more of a guess than a hunt..."who has the most time to drive around" sort of deal.

worth it for me, I love this beer, and making the rounds in Gainesville only takes 30-60 minutes.
I'm going to miss this town when I move away :slight_frown:

Just left Colonial and there's none left. The search continues.

Just thought I'd update the Orlando people. Just called TW at Millenja and they have one case of Black Note as well as DFH 120 minute and CCB Sour ale. Knightly spirits on OBT also has a case.

Might just trade a huna for a 4 pack, but damn huna is so good this year I really don't wanna let one go.

Just getting caught up on this thread and didn't see anyone answer your question in any constructive way. Hoping your question was sincere. If it was there are many ways to get great beer without truck chasing. If you truck chase fine. I'm not judging. I just think there are more efficient ways. There are a ton of retail websites that sell beer online. Not the reseller websites but legit retail businesses. A few I like to order from are craftshack.com, craftbeerkings.com, charlestonbeerexchange.com and luekensliquors.com (based in Tampa). Ordering online I can get access to some seasonal and some limited release beers from around the country. No uberwaelz but really tasty, limited stuff. The other way I like to get great beer is to trade. If you are down in South FL any of the seasonal CCB bottles, bottles releases at Due South or Funky Buddha or even growlers of the everyday offerings at any one of our many great breweries here in south FL will get you some tasty stuff from other parts of the country. Shoot me a PM if you would like to discuss further.

I called TW in Tampa, they said they ordered Black Note, but of course "no idea" about when its coming in.

Yea I was just at work and don't want to drive over there for nothing. I am getting 2 BN in a trade today, I might try one and decide weather or not to hunt then.

There was a guy at the Funky Buddha Last Snow growler release on Tuesday showing people in line a bottle of BN he got....I got excited for a second and thought maybe he was able to buy it somewhere in SoFlo, but when I asked he told me one of the bartenders gave it to him and he didn't seem to be aware that it was being sold in FL.

It's a shame SoFlo is getting shafted with that. Weird we'd get Hopslam but no BN
