Bells Black Note (2014)

4 cases dropped last week in Tippecanoe County and surrounding areas. Whereabouts for more; not sure. Not thinking there's anymore left to be distributed. Depending on your area you may find some still but don't hold your breath.

 

Got 2 bottles today in chicago area

 

It was gone in about 3 hours at the place I went to yesterday. One bottle limit at $7.99. Only reason I got one was because I had one put aside. I then grabbed another at the LZ Binny's during my lunch around 11:30. I saw BG Binny's tweeted that they have some, but that was earlier, may be gone by now. Just keep looking around. It's all over Chicago and surrounding burbs.

 

Fort Wayne got some in today

 

I heard it hit the Chicago Burbs, but not the City. Any hits in the Schaumburg/Roselle Area?

 

Most likely. Foremost in AH had some but all gone now.

 

I called the Bell's distributor in Ann Arbor, Michigan area (Rave Associates) and they hadn't even heard of it. So it was very confusing.

I've come to the conclusion we have a better chance of finding Sasquatch than a bottle of Black Note.

 

From what I've heard it did hit Chicago & the burbs but it all came & went. One Binny's rep said they might get another case but that's only if another store pissed off the distro rep.

 

Bell's Black Note Stout hitting Chicago's western suburbs TODAY, Apr 18

 

It's good, really good. It definitely has the roasted malt characteristics of a fresh Expedition Stout and is as velvety as the Double Cream. pretty low carbonation. It is a more complex beer than Bourbon County, which while I LOVE, has more bourbon notes than stout. Bell's did a great job of using the bourbon to accent the base beer. Cheers guys and gals.

I heard from the retailer in Michigan that I got my 4-pack from that Black Note is 10X harder to get than KBS, and I believe it. Black Note hasn't even been offered in Indiana, but I was able to score a 12-pack of KBS will little effort. My Black Note purchase was the result of several phone calls and finally getting a bottle shop to reserve a 4-pack for me.

 

Saginaw bay city midland got it two weeks ago very limited this year. Last year I got 16-20 bottles this year not nearly that....

 

Your main point may be valid, but your facts about Indiana are not. I bought a bottle of Black Note in downtown Indianapolis this year, and other posters have obtained bottles in Fort Wayne, NW Indiana, and Lafayette. So while I saw more KBS buzz around and about, and it may be available in greater numbers, both beers were hard to get but available in Indiana this year.

 

The liquor store I went to in Northwest IN got a case of KBS the first week of release, and then a second case along with a case of Black Note the week after. So it seems, to me at least, Black Note was actually available in Indiana a lot sooner than most other places

 

In kzoo MI for the weekend, any collecting dust behind a counter somewhere you could share?

 

Is Black Note all it's cracked up to be? I honestly only cared about IPA's for about 5 years now and I recently got into barrel aged beers. How's it compare with some of the big dogs like KBS, Dragons Milk (I know it's year round, but it's still quite good), Bourbon County stuff, etc.?
