$5 for a bottle at Alpine. Seems like the best deal to me?

The heat-of-the-moment responses are your biggest concern here. Honestly, if you had handled your response well earlier, you would be able to satisfy the majority of your customer base without ever touching the pricing structure.

Don't take this as an insult, because it truly isn't, but consider investing in a class or seminar on public relations. There is a reason why larger companies have been hiring a person specifically for the job of social media director. While that may not fit into the budget for a family-owned place, training on how to handle situations more appropriately could be a smaller investment and provide substantial value.

I think it's coming from a place, where as a business owner, his business may be affected by consumers placing too much reliance on scores generated by amateur reviews. I know it's not something anyone can control, but imagine a new Chicago pizza joint in LA getting low scores because the first batch of ratings on yelp are based on the expectation that in order for the item to be called a pizza, it must be of the thin crust kind. Now that the low score's been established, the business is less likely to attract new customers. Ever watch any beer reviews on youtube? Most are cringe-inducing, yet, these guys have followings and can impact the perceptions of beers and not in a good way. I agree, though, dude did come off as a douche and could have expressed himself in a way that wasn't as condescending and inflammatory.

You make an excellent point about Yelp and pizza styles. People love to consider themselves pizza experts if they've lived within an 150 mile radius of a pizza mecca (i.e. Chicago or New York City), or if they studied abroad in Naples for a semester. People jump all over something if it doesn't live up to their conception of a certain, often illusory, ideal. So you make a good point. I'm sure he's had to deal with similar bullshit, and that sucks.

I haven't seen any of these Youtube beer reviewers. Now I kind of have a morbid curiosity about them...

Damn, why do all the places in downtown Orange (maybe excluding Smoqued) charge so much for craft beer? I blame it on Haven, they were the first to sell craft on draft down there and had crazy prices from the start. And now they've gone and ruined Provisions.

Posting in a legendary thread. Also, I got Nelson for 5 bucks a pint during happy hour at the Bottle Room as well. Felt selfish for having four.

Any east bay sightings yet? Sounds like City Beer would be the closest for now.

That'd be $42 at OOTP Pizza. Hey, it's less than airfare to SD!

They aren't known for having great prices. Just next door Beachwood sold a pint for the same amount.
