So happy we got a "This IPA falls off after seven days, better get it fresh!" post.

mine are fine. a trend i notice, most of the biggest inquiries come from those the furthest possible distance from the production location. coincidence?

Not true. I once drank a Pliny on the banks of the Ganges, and it was phenomenal.

Well, I'm in GA, had a Pliny last night, and it was as awesome as it was every other time I have had it, which isn't very often. I only get it by trade.

Pliny is well overrated at this point. It's great but there are 10 better DIPAs out there.

No problem with Pliny, I had two bottles last week dated less than seven days when I consumed them. No problems that I could detect with flavor.

According to BA, there are only 4. But, even if you're right, #11 out of 2592 ain't bad.

I second the request for a list of 10 DIPAs better than PtE. If you are correct, then I need to start shopping ASAP!

I'm just surprised the thread made it 25+ posts before a "Pliny is overrated" comment. Haters gotta step their game up.

That's great to hear, as I haven't been able to find Pliny in about 2 years now! I, too, would love this list so I have some legitimate substitutes during these "lean", Pliny-less times. Although I have a bad feeling they will be more beers that are inaccessible to me...

Pliny is fine to me. Had some at Monk's Café and I liked it better than the Younger actually. I think as more quality DIPA's are on the market PtE is not as far ahead of the pack as it was (though it is still one of the best examples of the style out there). Could be palate fatigue, or you're craving a different hop profile. But I'm doubting its the beer.

I go back and fourth on PtE and somedays I think it's overhyped compared to local offerings, but last time I had it on draft it was amazing all over again, like having it for the first time again. (D)IPAs are kinda like that - go figure!
