I'm taking their word that it is tasting as intended currently. I guess we'll find out more on Wednesday when the masses get to taste test. I'm giving them a try. They sound like really good beers assuming the lacto doesn't take hold. I'll find a way to drink them soon after I receive them. All I'm out is the potential hoarding/trading of excess bottles. Oh well. After discount, they're $17/bottle. I've paid more for bad bottles of beer. Hell nanobreweries around Chicagoland charge $11 to $15 per bomber for small batches that haven't been checked for any issues.

All that said, they are definitely wearing thin any benefit of the doubt they are allowed. Between consistent infection issues and a lack of interesting new beers, it will need to be a great rest of 2014 to renew membership.

I grabbed a bottle each of the Floyd/Rue beers. If they're good now, I'm happy to try them. I am definitely disappointed that they're infected, though, as I was hoping to put down a few to age.

Also annoyed that even for Hoarders, it's a 1 bottle limit for MishMishMish. I know they said they'd be making smaller quantities this year but c'mon!

There is no reasonable amount of more that would quiet the entitled hordes (hoarders?). Sold at cost? Should sell at a loss! Sold at a loss to recoup bottling costs? Should be sold at even more of a loss / given away for free! Poured down the drain for the idealogical purity? Should have given it away for free to earn goodwill! Sold at a reduced profit with full warning and opportunity to receive a refund? PILLORY THEM.

The entitlement in this thread is out of control.

No, your being logical and reasonable is out of control.

I'm confused by some of the reaction here (not counting that from out-of-state members).
"It is possible that its presence will never affect the flavor of the beer, but it is also possible that it will."
"If our QC department determines the beer is no longer to our quality standards before this date, we will stop fulfilling pickups of these beers and we will refund those who have not yet picked up their beer."

So there may be a bunch of outrage and hoopla for no reason, but maybe there will be reason and we'll find out. Either way, if it's bad they'll pull it from sale and potentially refund you before the date for which they believe the beer is at risk. They think it's drinking good now, so buy what you what and drink it sooner than later. If you like it, you've enjoyed a beer you made the good decision to purchase. If not (because of sourness, not just because you didn't like the flavor profile), they'll take care of you no harm done.
I don't buy beer to sit on it. I buy beer to drink it and enjoy it with friends, not to trade it. Just make this one you don't sit on. I feel like the reason so many people are mad is because they buy beer to trade or just to sit on it forever. Just treat it like a Stone Enjoy By and do as is recommended.
"If the beer remains stable" Sooo....you're telling me there's a chance.

Wrong. There are no refunds once the bottles have been picked up, even if you drink an infected bottle before the deadline.

Grand Crue, but it will continue the current Bruery trend and be another blend.

That's not explicitly stated, so it's not wrong; it's just not confirmed as right. I was speculating that if the QC department ends up finding that this beer officially sours due to lacto proliferation before their "drink by" date, then they might come back and offer refunds and immediately cease ordering.

Then replace the words Enjoy By with "Drink By". I never was comparing styles, I was comparing the "don't sit on this beer and drink it already" mentality. I fixed some of your own speculation in bold. I also addressed out-of-state members by stating that my post did not apply to them at all. If you're near the Bruery and can swing by, pick up your beer and drink it (like many members are), then this might not be a problem.

You must be reading something different because that line is definitely not in the e-mail I received. I apologize if for some reason I didn't get an e-mail that explicitly says that line, so could you post the paragraph in context?

I'm just going to note my disappointment. I pretty much am not drinking any big beers until it cools down in autumn. I'm into my sour/saison/gose/berlinerweiss with an occasional IPA phase right now and I was going to keep these until after summer. So, I'm only picking up a couple. I do think I'm going to let one rest in a room temp closet to see where it goes in a year, though.

I have a feeling there will be plenty for Preservation release.

I'm actually planning on doing the same - picking up 2-3 and leaving one way beyond the enjoy-by date
