So I walked into House of 1,000 beers today and they had this beer for 12.49 a can with a two beer limit. So I got to know who traded with beer guy "Dave" to get him the few four packs he needs to pull off the biggest rip off in history?

I mean I can see the hike up in most of the beers there, mostly bombers but OneDropSoup told me it was worth it. What...? When is a DIPA even worth 10+ dollars a can mind you even bomber?

I did cave in on the Surly which was hiked up to 6 dollars a can (got furious and coffee bender) but when I asked OneDropSoup if he would prefer two cans of furious or the Heady Topper he said he would take the topper.

What twisted world do I live in where these prices are fair and just?

edit: BTW I justified the Furious and coffee bender price since it would be expensive to trade for surly but I am sure for 12.50 a can it would be easier to find a Vermont trader.

I know I don't even know how "OneDropSoup" would justify that! Even the chocolate oak aged yeti was 15 dollars a bomber and you get two 9+% beers there. And I want to try the hell out of that one...

How is a Western PA store selling both Heady and Surly beers? Isn't it illegal to sell beer if its not from a distributor?

Well beer guy "Dave" from the House of 1,000 sold Pliny the elder once for 20? dollars a bottle. He must be trading so I do feel bad for the "supply" guy to see the 4X price hike.

Well, they have to price it high enough to make it worth losing their liquor license over.

Why do we get so upset about overpriced beer? Why don't we get more upset about those who pay the prices? There are plenty of people out there more than willing to overpay for beer and thanks to them we will not see a lack of over priced beer at any point in the near future. I cannot control how people spend their money but I can spend mine in a way that does not support establishments who promote such practices.

And as far as fair and just, if the second party is willing to pay, the price is fair. Sad truth.

I live in Denver. I'll trade some Chocolate OA Yeti with you. Although the Espresso I think is better.

By definition, if one is willing to pay the price, it's worth it.

Based on its BA rating, that looks likes steal compared to the numerous $20 beers on the market scoring in the low 4's.

As much as I absolutely love Heady, I'd never pay half that amount for a can. Can't you report them for selling beers they aren't supposed to be selling?

Why be proactive when starting a thread complaining about it on BA is so much more fun?

People are buying it that's how you justify it... In case you haven't noticed most of the beers they stock that are rated highly are also priced rather highly.. And they dont sit on the shelves very long if they ever even make it that far.... I might also say that it might be rather unkind of you to call them out by name only due to the archaic nature of our liquor laws here in pennsyltucky... It sucks I know but I'm sure they arent having any trouble getting rid of it...

I paid $9.50 for a can of HT at a bar and I left a $3.50 tip, therefore I paid $13 for a can of HT that I sucked down in 15 minutes...

I would have much rather spent 51¢ less to drink it at my own pace, in the comfort of my own home.

Damn I love Heady but would never pay that for it, usually about $4 a can.

It's not like a form where I can hit the "report" button. And who wants them to loose their liquor license? I go their all the time and find great outdated beer for a buck a bottle and the best mixed six in town.

It's a two sided coin but if I were to complain it would be to the LCB themselves for not giving the OK and having the distribute rights here. Then I would be able to walk in and see heady topper for 4 bucks a can and it would be fair.

But yeah I would rather complain to the forms since OneDropSoup paid for a can (or got a discount, maybe even a freebee?)

Damn 13 dollars I would rather have a four pack of Terrapin "Hopzilla"
Possibly the best DIPA I ever drank!
