I lived in Houston for about 6 years, but moved back to Oklahoma about 4 years ago. My wife and I are coming down to visit some friends in late May. As it turns out I'm probably going to have the first two days (till 4:30 pm) to myself. I looked on the Saint Arnold's website and it looks like they have a full taproom now, but I couldn't find a ton of info on it (hours, tap lists). Anybody know where I could find that info and do you know how busy it gets on weekdays?

Also, what other beer places should I visit (bars, breweries, etc.) while there? We will be staying near the Galleria, but I'll be able to go anywhere since I'll have the rental car. Thanks in advance.

Saint Arnold does lunches during the week. I think they now have a full menu, it use to be just a set lunch that changes everyday. Lunches start at 11 and go to about 1:30. Tour on the weekday starts at 3 I think. Saturday-Sunday they will have small snacks instead of a full lunch.

You are free to take the tour or just hang in the beer hall, and they will announce when a tour is going on. On top of the tour/lunch cost, they have had a few goodies on offer to buy (on premise only) most weeks. Like casks, BB, and DR's. Outside of the physical beauty that is Jester King, Saint Arnold is one of my favorite brewery experiences in Texas. They have made it a lot different than the typical warehouse, tour, free glass thing for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon (which is a blast as well, but completely different at SA now).

I think you should drop in to get a beer and some food at Petrol Station

Yeah, I just heard about this place. It looks pretty like its got a pretty solid tap list. Hopefully, they still have some good stuff in a month. Thanks.

No problem! They always have good stuff on tap, but their food is really, really awesome. I honestly don't think they have one bad item on their food menu, everything is delicious. My favorites are their quinoa burger or the Turkey Bacon Avocado sandwich with balsamic glazed onions.

Petrol Station food is very good... service can be extremely slow at times... BUT thats when you get to drink more beers..

Yeah... Usually I don't mind but if you are going on a Saturday, I've had over hour and a half waits mid day, so keep that in mind. Weekdays and Sundays aren't too bad, especially with the beer selection

And seriously, Rancor is awesome if you like big ole juicy burgers with breakfast on top, but I've had a bunch of other stuff (yay for wives that don't finish their food) and have never been let down

This is what I was going to say. It's just down the street from Petrol, too.

I still need to hit up Cottonwood... not living in Houston... there are still several places I haven't been too.. Cottonwood, Mongoose v Cobra and a few others.

I did eat at Good Dog Hotdog the other day and they had a nice but small tap selection and some good bottles and cans.

You also need to stop by Haymerchant and Mongoose vs. Cobra. While I have not been to latter, these 2 and Petrol are Houston's only 3 contributions to the Top 50 best beers bars in the country and I have been to the other 2 and concur with everything these others guys are saying. Especially Rancor!

The goose, as I affectionately call it, is one of my favorite spots in town. Seriously great beer and cocktails, and everyone there is super awesome. Though I will say it gets super busy on Friday/Saturday nights because it's located in Midtown. Most other times though, you can at least get a seat somewhere.

I've been digging Hughies on West 18th off 610. Decent taplist and awesome banh mis. It's also in the same area as Petrol and Cottonwood.
