I just don't understand the point of posting to a thread to let everyone know you don't think the beer is anything special or you dislike the beer (even if I agree with you). It comes across to me as your palate is holier than thou. There's plenty of beers I don't like but I don't feel the need to let everyone know. I guess it's just a part of the community I don't understand.

You're never going to find 100% of people who agree that any one thing is amazing, there's always someone who will disagree. Whether it's one person saying an amazing, world class beer isn't what it used to be, or a beer was infected (when it wasn't), or any number of other things. I think I tend to agree with @wtkphoto though, in that I try to focus on what I like, not what I don't. There's too much good beer to worry about the ones I don't care for.

    Cheers,
    Chad

Sorry. I thought this was a forum for discussion. I wasn't trying to shit on anything.

Which is why I gave my opinion on what I personally focus on. If what you want to talk about is things you like, don't like, and everything in between, I'm not saying you shouldn't.

EDIT: Oh, and I absolutely love Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza. One of my favorite easy drinking beers there is!

Like I said, I don't understand it. It's never been something that added to a discussion for me. It seems whenever someone posts that they don't like a beer the response is "good, more for me/us" and the discussion moves on like those posts never happened.

Yeah. Oops. I guess I'm not helping my reputation as the guy who hates everything.

I don't necessarily think it's a holier than thou on either side of the coin. I mention my opinion, others mention theirs, I agree with some, not with others. I think that is what makes the community go, not everyone is going to agree on what we like or dislike, much the same we won't all agree on exactly what whaelz are; one man's lawnmower beer, may very well be another man's favorite beer, or another's whale. For the most part there will be consensus, but there will always be some discontent as well.

I think the more surprising aspect, at least to me, is the hype around JP. People I've had conversations with at least, seem to think their beers are some of the best things since sliced bread; I tend to disagree, and we end up having a healthy discussion. Each time I go to OKC, I can find plenty of JP just sitting on the shelves collecting dust. However, I DO think that bringing in another brewery to Texas for choice and options is certainly a good thing. Let the market dictate what it will.

Jolly Pumpkin was Jester King before there was a Jester King.

Good news. I want all the breweries to be in Texas.

    All. The. Breweries.

I haven't been blown away by any JP brews (yet), but they have all been very enjoyable. That, to me, is the point of beer.

I'll bring some JP to the D&T Sour Tasting so that I can expand your palates!

I see it as more a quantity vs quality thing, but market saturation definitely hurts. Another brewery pumping out the same styles as the last 10 breweries that started distributing in Texas does not do me any good unless they're exceptional at making those styles.

To stay on-topic, I look forward to JP on the shelves. I never heard much hype, so maybe I was insulated from it or just not paying attention, but I have enjoyed a couple of their beers in the past.

Y'all can be so goddamn fussy.

That's it. We're calling this whole thing off.

I haven't had a lot of JP brews, but the ones I've had - Oro De Calabaza, La Roja and The Firefly - were all very good and I'll be buying them regularly. Want to try some of their other offerings, so y'all quit your pickiness and be thankful for what Flood is bringing!

Hoping the GR beers make it here at some point too. Big fan of Biere De Mars GR and just wish it wasn't so limited.

We're very flattered to see our name even mentioned in the same sentence as Jolly Pumpkin.
