On my way up to Wisconsin next week for Madison Craft Beer week with my buddy. I've been to Chicago numerous times but was wondering which Binny's (or other bottle shop) has the best Pipeworks selection. Seems like whenever I'm up there there's never any Pipeworks to be found. I have a feeling it's like people coming to Indianapolis expecting to find a utopia of 3 Floyds which hasnt been the case in years

I can't speak for the other locations but South Loop has a decent selection. You can also follow them on twitter to see when stuff comes in: @southloopbeer

Just Pipeworks, maybe Parabola if there's any still floating around, barrel aged Revolution beers and the like

Fischman's Liqours is also good for Pipeworks.

South Loop is pretty close to the highway. So is Fischman's which was mentioned.

Plenty of pipeworks to be found, even in the hole in the wall places now. Anything specific you are looking for?

Also barrel aged revolution is pretty easy to get now too, lots of straight jacket collecting dust, which is a damn shame.

If you are traveling up I 294, Ardmore Station Liquors in Villa Park is a short detour off the expressway.
Great selection & tons of Pipeworks.

I think their $19.99 price point shoots them in the foot a little (which strikes me as odd because their regular bombers are priced under similar competitors). If they lowered the barrel aged bottles by $3 I bet it would all be snatched up.

Any of the Ninjas, Unicorns, Truffles, etc.. I'll be in Chicago for a few hours bouncing around so the plan is to hit the majority of the places mentioned.

I think most bottle shops Mark them up, because they're supposed to be 15-16
Even at 18.99, the price I see straight jacket for at Binnys, it's an awesome beer for the cellar. We did it head to head with sucaba and kunhennen bbbw and straight jacket was the winner. Still tough competition from central waters, their bbbw is half the price per volume and just so delicious.

Since they started doing double and triple batches of most of their releases, the PW inventory has started to build up on shelves at most stores. The BA stuff is the only product that only lasts a day or two.

Actually that's a negative, the markup is pretty standard. I've complained to Rev a few times about how they're basically the only ones undecutting their retailers on Barrel Aged stuff.

Maybe the problem is the distributor? I don't know what I'm talking about...

oh shit, somebody just got vav'd

if you are downtown, the Binny's on Grand always seems to have a good PW selection. Not too many whalezbrohunterz in that area. but beer temple, west lakeview liquors and probably castle vav (aka binny's LP) should all have at least some PW on the shelf (probably not goiong to get citra ninja tho:wink:)
