Regrettably it will not be to Georgia. The GA legislature is run by a similar gang of crooks and hypocrites.

    ASHEVILLE!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!

We have the best water which is why all the breweries are coming. Word is that we might be getting Stone as well. That would be some progress in the past couple of years, Oskar Blues, Sierra Nevada, New Belgium, and potentially Stone and Cigar City. Yikes.

You shut your mouth, you greedy AVLien! We haven't given up our fight just yet. Floridians, even without many of our legislators, love our brewers. Viva la cerveza Florida!

I don't think anyone is for politicians fucking over citizens and small businesses.
No way, the fact that Jacksonville NC exists should negate your entire state. Armpit of America. Those were probably the shittiest four years of my life living on base there.

But politicians are up for the highest bidder, and big business (distributors) have more money than small business does.

    Let me get this straight.

We're talking about where CCB is going to move because the CEO said he would consider going to another state due to legislation that hasn't gone into effect yet, much less been signed by the governor, much less had a house floor vote, much less had a senate floor vote?

    Good. Lord.

Can we get an SB 1714 containment thread in here so this nonsense stops cluttering up the SA forum?

Sorry, are we bothering you with awareness?
Feel free to ignore these threads and do nothing about SB1714.

Don't recall saying "delete all SB1714 threads". Awareness is one thing, bloviating about a theoretical situation that is multiple what-ifs in the future is another.

Well, realistically he is already saying he's maxed out the space he has now and has to take on some of those expenses as is, though his original thought is expansion and not moving. The brewing equipment can be moved as well. Key people would move themselves if they wished to stay with the company... He may offer some assistance but not many businesses would offer a full ride when shifting locations. Distro relationships would likely not need to change, considering he said he'd consider another Southeast state. He has a following nationwide and I doubt there's be any qualms from fans outside of Florida about him picking up shop and moving.

The reality of CCB leaving or not is a tough call. They are already so established here that it would be difficult to say the least. Not saying they couldn't, but it would be difficult. But, what I think about are all the great up and coming brewers and small business entrepreneurs looking for a state to call home, to realize their dream, to start up the next big thing in beer. If they're informed, smart, and paying attention, they're all skipping right over Florida. If it weren't for this legislature, we'd be the perfect place to call home.

This is exactly the kind of attitude that allows legislation like this to proceed and potentially turn into law. Politicians thrive on the apathy of the populace. Cheers to anyone and everyone on here and beyond who is spreading awareness and trying to do something to stop this.

NOT ASHEVILLE FOR GODS SAKE. lets get something else in a city other than Asheville. Durham could use another brewery, especially one with a following. Plenty of thirsty people in the area:slight_smile: Laws here are good, off premise growlers, growlers in retail stores, bottle sales at breweries. Oh and Im here:slight_smile:

He's already been in talks with Triangle area distributors to get at least Jai Alai and Maduro cans on shelves.

No, the armpit of the US is Pittsburgh. Its even close to the correct anatomical position.

and Jacksonville is much better than Fayettenam.

So the article basically says that he'd CONSIDER moving.

Amazing. Don't all successful businesses CONSIDER many alternatives? :astonished:

All journeys begin with the first step.
The shop I work at needs to expand. They're annexing the building next door, not considering moving out of state.

To answer this, yes. In GA it's the same way. For example, Randy Dempsey, the brewer/owner of O'Dempsey's, cannot buy a keg of his own beer unless he sells it to the distributor, they pick it up and warehouse it, then they sell it to us (the retailer), truck it here, and then we sell it to him. Even selling it at cost, the distributor makes money for basically holding it for a day or two. Every GA based brewery is this way. It's ridiculous. Brewpubs that sell beer in house can't sell beer to go, but they can sell kegs to a distributor for off premise consumption.
