I'm not a person who NEEDS multiples of many things, but there are certain beers I like way more than others. I love Mexican stouts, and I can't say I'd be mad about having a case. I would gladly leave all the KBS and Black Note for people who like stuff like that, lol!

Anyway looks like the BA release is in July. I think I might make the trip.

Some good friends put a keg of the first anniversary Mexican Cake on a few nights ago. Everyone agreed that it was outstanding with two years of age. Vanilla, and serious chocolate. Totally different beer and really memorable. Might want to get a few extra bottles for the cellar.

How funny, because it says on the label not to age it. You just never know until you try it!

It seems like the flavors are all things that would fade fast, but chemistry is complicated I guess.

Yea, I had the first anniversary on tap last year at the barrel aged release. It was quite good then, but I liked it even better with another year on it. Of course, there is no chili heat at all, but so chocolaty delicious. No cinnamon either, but almost a slight hint of cherry. I've got a few bottles from last year that I plan on cracking throughout the year.

So I'll be passing through NC and SC, before arriving in Savannah on May 21. From Westbrooks website it says that regular Mexican Cake will be released in May, and other Beer advocates say it will be May 5th.

Anyone know if I'd have a chance to grab some Mexican Cake while I'm down there or does this fly off the shelf like a KBS.

May 5th is a Monday, and the brewery is not open on Monday. I would say that a May 5th release is not very likely. They normally do these things on a Thursday or Friday.

It was on the shelf in Columbia for probably 3-4 weeks if I remember correctly

I forget from last year... Does Mexican Cake hit the normal Westbrook distro? I feel like I picked it up at a shop in Fort Mill last year.

Yep, it was on the shelf for a while down here. Hopefully, it does this year too.

Speculation on a date is all we have until they announce more info so let's all just wait until that happens instead of finding a dozen different ways to ask "I'll be in x-location on y-date, will I be able to get it?".
