I'm going to the Coca-Cola 600 race weekend at the end of May, flying into Charlotte and driving down to the track to camp. I would really like to try some Westbrook Gose, what is it's availability in the Charlotte area? Do you expect it to be easy to get ahold of with minimal effort (don't have time to chase beer around town)? I was planning on trading for it but don't want to do that if I can pick some up when in town. Also, is NoDa Hop Drop and Roll in season and easy to find? Interested to hear any other local beer suggestions to look out for.

    Cheers!

Westbrook doesn't distribute into NC yet. It's a short drive south of the border into SC. You may have some luck in the Fort Mill and Rock Hill areas. I can't speak for availability there but its easy to get here in Columbia.

Hop Drop n Roll is year round and shouldn't be too hard to find. Even though I've heard it's really flying off the shelves now after their gold medal win recently. I've always gotten mine straight from the brewery and they've always had it in stock when I've gone.

No Gose in Charlotte. From the airport, get on 485 Outer. Get off at Johnson Rd exit and continue south on Johnson Road for a few miles until you cross into SC. Just after the state line is Southern Spirits and they carry all the Westbrook goodies. Turn around and head back to 485 outer for another 2-3 miles and get off at Providence Rd Exit. There is a Total Wine right off the exit and they should have Hop Drop. Then continue on 485 outer to the speedway. There are certainly other spots to get both, but that is probably the easiest way to get w/o going totally out of your way.

One note however...avoid 485 outer in afternoon rush hour if at all possible. It is undergoing widening right now and is a major PITA during rush hour.

Hendrick24, For a small fee (i.e. New Glarus fruit beers) I will show you where 24 and 48 live. I drive by their house every day. And if you are slightly/highly drunk, I can point you to Casey Mear's house as he has 4 bumper boats in his pond.

<------------- What gave it away?!? My cover is blown!

Very intriguing offer.....we are certain to be in a condition of fearless inebriation so those bumper boats are certainly in play. If you can also point me in the direction of Dale Jr's old west street and go-cart track we have a deal!

Umm..Junior lives north of downtown...does that work? No idea on where he lives. Depending on how big of a JG stalker you are, I can however point you to his ex wife Brook's castle (same street as Casey Mears). Bumper boats then streaking though her yard with a giant 24 painted on your chest? Win Win!

Quick update on my trip, didn't find those bumper boats but we had a great time regardless. Weather was amazing, Jimmie won (Woooooo!) and I found a gas station right next to our campsite that sold fresh NoDa cans. I drank a ton of Hop Drop, what an amazing IPA! I went to the race in Homestead last fall and was underwhelmed with Jai Alai considering the hype it gets, and so I tempered my expectations for Hop Drop. I was very happily surprised and it may even be underrated IMO. Also really dug the Jam Session as a tasty lighter option. We didn't have time to go down to S. Carolina for Gose, guess I'll have to trade or schedule a trip to Darlington. Thanks again for the great info.
