Beer Temple is doing an event on the 21st so I'm gonna try and find a date that works at a place that's available

Paging Dr. Fitz. I hope this idea didn't die on the vine.

Is there an email list for the Chicago Beer Lovers bottle share events? Has this discussion been moved elsewhere? Wow, I am late to this game...

Just keep an eye on this thread. As you can see from a few posts up, a date was attempted during CCBW but the @BeerMeFitz @quinnsi bromance proved too strong, and that date was aborted.

Hopefully it was just the date that was aborted and not @BeerMeFitz and @quinnsi 's beer love child.

Who's thirsty? Let's do a share.... Unlike any other share.... Entirely blind share... Each of us write down our guess of what beer we are drinking and then move on to the next beer.... We can add other ideas and make this a rather rare event. Let me know ... Cheers!

this sounds awesome. you pre-register for the bottle share and state what beers you're bringing to the organizers. the organizers assign a number to each beer. each beer a person brings is wrapped in a paper bag, referenced only by the organizer-assigned number, which is what gets written on the bag. everyone entering gets a nice numbered list with an opportunity to write in a rating for posterity and a guess at what the beer is. person who guesses the most beers correctly wins some arbitrary prize.

    just some tipsy brainstorming.

can the arbitrary prize also include a trophy of sorts? Who doesn't love trophies, I haven't won a trophy in 20 years. Maybe something like this?

How much does it cost to reserve that space?

The most recent "big one" was hosted at The Beer Temple, last October, by @quinnsi, with the blessing of @BeerMeFitz, our city's craft beer ambassador. Everybody loves bottle shares, so there is no easy way to organize one without everybody and their mother wanting to show up. Accordingly, on the morning of Labor Day, Chris posted in this thread that the first 35 men or women to respond to him by beermail would get a reserved spot. These folks were not allowed to bring guests. There was a waiting list from which a few dropouts were replaced.

Basically, therefore, the best way to get "invited" is to check beeradvocate (or to get updates) regularly.

For what it's worth, the October 2013 share was awesome. Good group of people. Tons of amazing beers shared. Surprisingly little (if any) damage to the store - from what I saw.

Yeah, Fischman's would be a great place because it's so close to all that Jeff Park public transportation.
