OK News #1 (new forums)

Had a great time at OKC Craft Beer fest yesterday, probably talked to some of you accidentally.

 

Also some really great stuff from anthem / redbud / coop gave me some secret mystery sour that was unbelievable / marshalls firkin / etc / etc. Oklahoma was well represented.

 

It sure was. People there were great too. Ended up running into friendly folks from the Fest for the rest of the day and night. Definitely found some new found respect for brewers in OK.

 

Good times indeed! Thanx 4serving up the tasty RB bevo ThirstyHerf. The Folkbier, Oude Red Pawn & the Bacon Rauchbier were some of my favorites from yesterday. Thanks to everyone who worked hard pulling beers at this year's OKCBF. CHEERS!

It wasn't until this fest that you found some new respect? Yes, Anthem was brand new, but Choc, Marshall, COOP and Redbud have been really bringing it for at least a year, most for longer. And Battered Boar, at fests, has been really good as well.

The Bacon Rauchbier was easily the most interesting beer of the fest. I wasn't a huge fan--it came off as too bitter for me--but wow, what a cool idea. The most disappointing beer was probably COOP's sour, if only because it doesn't look like it will see any sort of release. It was one of the top few beers there, but we won't see it again. The second most disappointing beer has to be Choc's Oak Aged Quad. It was richly malty, with good yeast flavors and a nice oakiness. All-told, a great beer. But it wasn't at all sour.

That's a heck of a fest where the disappointments were great beers.

And I'm really looking forward to Anthem beers hitting shelves.

 

Just a great time everyone....WOW. Great people, Great beer, Great food, awesome weather...It couldn't have been any better! We had a KILLER TIME!

 

Best beer to have while watching the Thunder game tonight? I'm thinking the DNR sounds delicious and appropriate. What are you fellows having?

 

I'm having a Nugget Nectar followed by a DFH 90 minute! Hope the Thunder can close this one out tonight!

 

I'll be working on finishing off a keg of homebrewed Saison. I have a Brett Drie finished Belgian pale waiting for a home.

 

Interesting, I'm drinking nugget nectar tonight also.

About to be on a four-day-weekend for Memorial Day, anyone going to be in town Thur-Mon? Probably gonna pick some brews from the bottle store after work. Helps that one of my friends works there too, might be able to get some decent service from him at least.

 

Are you going to be in OKC or Lawton?

 

Lawton, or more accurately it means, I splurged a lot last weekend in OKC.

 

Well dang man I would be down to drink a few but I'm leaving for Vegas tomorrow night. What store do you typically shop at in Lawton?

Also have a killer dry & extra dry. Apparently they have Perry
as well, but I haven't tried that one yet.
