Had a blast at DLD. Met a lot of cool people and drank/shared a lot of great beers. Had group A and the DL bottle purchase was very smooth. Other lines were long which was expected given the GA ticket sales. I was surprised people were willing to wait so long in the Dark Matter line but to each their own I guess.

It would have been nice if the signs at the guest taps were up high were you can see what's available rather than hiding underneath the tents. Maybe next year?

Most entertaining moment was in the line that pretty much had regular DL on tap throughout the day. The wait was long but watched some dude puke twice during the wait yet he still managed to order and stumble away two fisting some Dark Lords. Guess he was just making room?

Also saw the fedora at the guest taps. He was a hot mess - he could barely keep his eyes open, swaying and bumping into people.

Lowlight: Sunburn; Highlight: Dude that didnt have enough cash and gave me his winning ticket that allowed me to puchase BVDL.

Lowlight: The state I was in after a half-day at DLD and a couple hours at Beer Geeks. Highlight: So many awesome and generous people. I had a few good bottles of my own, but I'll be better prepared in the future.

The camaraderie of the folks waiting in line with us - some local folks in front of us, along with some folks from Alabama in front of them, to the Iowa contingent (hope all is well on the home front and thanks for the great rare Avery Uncle Jacob's bottle share, too) just behind us, there was a sharing of rare and tasty brews in full force. Later in the day, sharing a table with a Minnesota couple, (Hi Jack, Hi Megan) where the one beer brought back for sampling was AWESOME (except Jack forgot which one it was - but he strongly rallied by opening a Surly Darkness!!). Thanks to Tillius Humphreys - for the trade as well for letting us know we were in the wrong line!
The dead-soldier lineups we saw as we were entering were epic!

Had a great time and got to meet some really kind and generous BAs. I honestly cannot emphasize the generosity I have received from this community. The only negative I experienced was my bad luck in the lines. The 6 people that were in front of me when they announced VBDL on tap turned into a swarm instantly and it was gone before I could blink. Also the 4 lines I waited in to get DL were all kicked before I reached the front. Cheers to the man working in one of the guest tap tents. He listened to me vent about my bad luck, felt bad and gave me his cup of '10 DL. You are the man! I got to try some awesome beers in the guest tap line like Hunah, Black Tuesday, KBS, BCBCS, and a BA sour by Mikkeller. This was also the first year I organized trades beforehand and I feel like I fared pretty well for having only GA tickets.

note: was a little too inebriated at the time to care about the hunah soaked pants in the background.

Lastly, just wanted to thank @boomer31 @robbiemoy13 @BFro @zrab11 @homerunhitter7 and @sliks96 for all the awesome trades/shares! You guys made this a DLD to remember and well worth the 6 hour drive!

I'll just reiterate how awesome it was. Thank you to everyone I met, and shared with, waiting in lines has never been so fun! Good job organizers and great job to the beer community as a whole for being awesome people.

Pros - won Brandy, cool guest taps (CCG, Mikkeller, HF), Iron Reagan and Vulgaari
cons - missed out on King Sue :slight_frown:, ran out of ZD and PF (ISO btw) just when i got to purchase beer, after i dropped off prementioned beer to my car they wouldnt let me bring in bottles i had in my backpack, (anyone know why this happened?)

Pros - like others, I really enjoyed the beer sharing in line to get in, while waiting for allotment, and hanging around the tent. It really is great that they allow people to bring their own stuff to the party. Getting to sample the Brandy Darklord after just missing out on the 2014 tap was a nice rebound moment. The allotment line was almost too fast.

Cons - guest taps area was a mess with all of the GA folks. Food lines were horrendous. While I appreciate the nod to good food, maybe also have some stands with more basic fare too. Coffee Line - Ha!

For suggestions for future events - throw a couple more picnic tables/seating options around/inside the tent or have a couple of different areas for people to congregate. People post up for long periods of time. Add some more recycling bins outside the fences and in the allotment line. And for a ridiculous request, I'd love to see a tv or two inside showing the hockey games.

First time at DLD, I had an awesome time.

I arrived around 2 PM, took a few hours to settle my trades, snagged a 2011 Dark Lord from a beer line. Was in group D, and was thrilled that very thing was running ahead of schedule. Only waited about 45 minutes in the Dark Lord line. Was lucky enough to get a brandy DL. Took our DL back to the car, and came back to watch the final three bands. Got a Doner from the Doner truck, met a guy who allowed me to sample Rue D'Floyd.

Due to standing in beer lines, DL line, food line, I missed out on all of the guest taps. I never really made it over to that area, but given my timing, I was just happy to be there, and was content sharing brews in lines. Everyone was cool, and I was able to try a lot of great beers.

All in all, I thought it was very well executed by the FFF team. Next year I hope I can get tickets, and if so, I'd try to arrive a little earlier to wait in some lines for some guest taps and some other food/merch options.

Great beer, great bands, great festival atmosphere!

Dont know it was a lowlight or a highlight but when we were waiting for guest taps @thaghost and our group of people looked over and we saw a girl all sorts of drunk just pumping milk outta her breast into her little machine, hope to hell that was not used to feed a baby haha

I noticed golden tickets had different graphics for each group and would like to see what they all look like if someone could post them. I have a C and an E but don't know how to post pictures.

buddy disappered > my phone died > no contingency plan for ride supposed to pick us up at undisclosed time/location > forgot to eat > suddenly dark, drunk, fell down and almost lost glasses > hitchhiked onto Reggie's bus back to city > lost wallet/money > no money for cab home once in Chicago > decided to take cab anyway and was able to pay once home

I love how DLD always had massive lines but all of a sudden the GA people are the cause this year. They were only 1/10 of the people there.

Too funny....this was my EXACT DLD '13. Take away the the lost wallet, but add in a pissed off wife (not sure which is worse). So yeah, my DLD attendance streak ended this year.
