I'm not defending the Bruery? I understand that other breweries have infection issues sometimes, so what? Doesn't change the fact that I had a very infected vanilla and coffee (some people I had the regular with said it tasted "off," I didn't think it was obvious, so I guess I shouldn't have included that.)

Regardless, why so defensive over the mention of them having notably infected beers? I'm not lying, so don't kill the messenger.

So here's my edit: I've never had a bad experience with 3/5 Prairie beers I've had. Buyer beware for the vanilla and coffee Noirs though. Your experience may be completely different, but I had infection issues I wouldn't gamble my money on again.

There, does that work? Is that fair?

Ive been to Republic Gastropub and the McNellies while I've been in OKC and thought they were both solid

At least some Vanilla Noir was known to have infection issues; luckily, I've only had 1 bad bottle out of many. I've not heard of any infection issues with either Noir or Coffee Noir, but maybe I just missed it while everyone was posting about Vanilla.

There is also a marked difference between an infection and oxidation, but since the most descriptive flavor indicators in this thread are "off" and "metallic", I'll just leave it at that.

The issue I had was with your original comment. You said half of the Prairie beers are infected. That is simply not true. If you had said half of two noir beers you had bought were infected, then that is fine. But that is also common knowledge. Only two Prairie beers are known to be infected and you bought both of them.

Well, 2/3 I recently traded for. But I digress... your argument is valid and noted. I was being a bit of a smartass. I still wouldn't buy Noirs again because of my experience, but I'm not trying to bash Prairie as a whole. I still love a few of their beers I've had.

As of today the Roughtail IPA is two weeks fresh and is a great beer. I highly recommend the Big Jamoke Porter and Black Dolphin Stout by Marshall. Wine Barrel Noir will be hitting shelves on May 8th or 9th. And we now have the 5 Founders year rounds as well. Tulsa also sells more Great Divide than Denver.

Yeah that Black Dolphin is easily the best from Marshall with El Cuy Cuy a close second, not sure how it's holding up right now, good I'm guessing...

    What's going on here boys?

I'm sorry you got infected bottles. It's a known issue and shouldn't happen again. Beating a dead horse never helps the cause.. especially in the regional forums...

Regarding must try beers in OK anything from roughtail and anthem you see on tap.. polar night and golden one are primo. Bomb and Belt have already been covered. Roughtail IPA and F5 if you are a hop head! Enjoy your visit!

Roughtail is my fav. Coop is good, Mustang and Marshall are solid, battered boar is small but they make some interesting stuff, prairie is too inconsistent and overrated nationally but they can make some great stuff. Wanna try Anthem but I haven't seen their stuff in stores yet. Roughtail's 1 year anniversary ale is an awesome DIPA, Roughtail 12th round is an interesting American Strong, almost stout like. ROck Tsar is awesome double oatmeal imperial stout too by them, Marshall's Black Dolphin is a great BARIS, battered boar makes a wicked spicy porter if you can find it (Dante's), and grab whatever from mustang, they make a solid wheat beer I think.. Loved Coop's Amber, really fresh bright tasting. Those are all OK breweries, try Tall Grass Vanilla Buffalo sweat like someone said, it's better than regular buffalo sweat, tastes like a cookie

    lololol.

Regarding Anthem it's because they are just starting to can their beer. It's been all kegs thus far. I have high hopes for Anthem. Great guys over there. Roughtail is making some dope stuff. I really want them to drift into barrel aging. I bet Tsar with some age would be amazing! If you wanna complain about inconsistent it should be battered boar...

Who's fucking pumped for the willows? So excited for my boy to finally release his first beer!

bought pairs of vanilla, coffee, noir, and bomb. 70$ worth or so, half of em either tasted tainted w/metal or were sour (vanilla). That's my experience and that is straight up inconsistent. Maybe the plastic seal fixed their probs, idk didn't have a prob w/bible belt or any of their other nonwax bottles. Only had a couple BB and never pairs/repeats so I can't comment on their consistancy but I will say they're much smaller and newer so I wouldn't hold them to the same standard as prairie for all their hype

Did your bomb! taste off? I've heard the noir issue so many times it gets annoying after a while. No more wax for bottles anymore.

Polar Night from Roughtail is a really good hoppy stout; awesome description on the can too.
