I saw them post something on Facebook today that said 6 weeks until the anniversary party. I guess that puts it right around May 31st…? Can anyone confirm the date? Anyone know any other details? I went to the grand opening and the MBCP release and had a real good time. Hopefully the streak will continue! Below is what they posted

6 weeks away from our 1 year anniversary. What Buddha beers do you want to see make the list?

More of that BA Peg's stout would be nice. Not a Buddha beer but it was amazing at the MBCP release.

Yes they are doing a 1 year anniversary party at the brewery on May 31. They posted a video interview on their Facebook about a week ago by some blogger that was interviewing them. The guys from Funky Buddha talked about the party on May 31 but only said it would be similar to the grand opening party and they would have a bunch of special beers on tap.

Hoping I can make it down for this one, last trip I made down they were out of quite a few of their staples and limited releases on tap, beer tender said they were stocking up for the anniversary event.

They posted the "initial tap list" on their Instagram:

Looks pretty good, but they need to add some Berliners.

They lost Phil. Berliners are much rarer than they used to be at the Buddha, and when they do have them the quality is lacking.
Its shitty, but it inspired me enough to make my own berliner. It'll be done in a week or so =D

I'd love to share it, when it's done I plan on bringing some to the lounge to let them taste it. Specifically I wanna get Morgan and Jack's opinion. I'll let you know, usually head there after work and get there at 6 30 or so. I've probably met you and just don't realize who you are on this forum lol. I'm Heavy Flow yo.

That sucks they lost the brewer that was creating many of their Berliners. That being said, I had their Passionfruit Berliner at the Brewery on Tuesday night while picking up More Moro bottles. It was my first time trying that particular beer so I can't compare to previous batches, but I thought it was fantastic. My wife also loved it.

That's good to hear. The last berliner I had at the oakland location wasn't sour in the slightest. I don't go there enough, but the next time I'm there for a growler I'll definitely give their berliners another shot if one happens to be on tap.

I was talking about the lounge in my post you quoted though, they had a raspberry berliner that was just...not up to par.

The preparty at the lounge is going to have two berliners, I'll be going to that instead of the big one at oakland. I'm much more comfortable at the lounge.

How long ago did you have a Berliner at the brewery?

I haven't liked a lot of their recent berliners, but I had the passionfruit a couple days ago and it was great.

Four months ago? Right after Christmas, or was it longer ago than that?
Do you remember what Berliner it was?
The reason I'm asking is because when they first opened their Berliners were weak, just to appease the general public. When that failed, they resorted to making them the correct way. Hell, I well remember the Key Lime Berliner! Couldn't make a more palate puckering beer than that. For sure! There were others, but that one really stood out.

It was Ach Tung Daddy or something, and then like a raspberry one I had later, or maybe passionfruit..don't remember.
Either way, it's clear I should give them another shot next time I'm in oakland, glad to hear the positive feedback about them for sure!

Ach Tung Daddy was way more than 4 months ago. Way-way more!
That's what happens when we get old. We sort of loose notion of time. Happens to me quite a lot.

Looking forward to the weirdo culinary beers I haven't had there yet like the braggots, Lairds Apple Brandy Ale, Fluffer Nutter, and Red Velvet cake. Never had a braggot before. Was hoping for Bonita Applebum but their Blueberry Cobbler is a great sub. They had a barrel aged Bonita on Sunday that was literally one of the greatest gastronomical substances of any form I ever had.

SamKuehn: We still on for this weekend?
