I was thinking about retired beers since I've recently bought two (Victory's Hop Wallop, they give this a year shelf life, mine is up on 6/21/14 and Firestone Walker's Reserve, had it last night and it was great). I'm not talking about beers that are one-offs, but beers that had their time as seasonals, year rounds or annual single releases, only to be culled to make room for new beers. I know Sierra Nevada got rid of Tumbler and Glissade (didn't get to try either). Green Flash's Rayon Vert has been sidelined. Great Divide's Belgian Yeti was replaced by Oatmeal Yeti (a better stout IMO). They also "replaced" their Grand Cru with Peach Grand Cru (different recipe, and not good IMO, at least compared to the original).

As for revival, there is 21st Amendment's Monk's Blood (not a big fan, but I know it has its fans) and DFH's Raison d'Extra (super-excited). There is also GI's Madame Rose, Night Stalker, and Big John. (I would like to get my hands on some of their retired stuff like Fleur, Marisol, and Demolition, but I don't even know if they fit my criteria though). Then, you got Bruery's Hottenroth and Rueuze.

Feel free to include what the beer was replaced with (either directly or indirectly) if it was and how you felt about the change. Finally, if possible maybe include a suitable replacement that you have found suitable, if applicable.

I know I could probably add some more beers, but it all started to run together.

I forgot to add DFH's Immort Ale, Chateau Jiahu, My Antonia or Black & Blue (at least for this year, but we will see how they fare).

Their Monster Ale is also gone.

My understanding is that Terrapin Treehugger is to be retired soon to make room for Liquid Bliss as a new year-round beer.

I was unaware that Immort Ale ever went away. This year's batch was amazing. I do hope that DFH will see fit to bring back Pangea some day.

As for recently retired beers I am sad to see Anchor won't be producing their Bock any more and apparently Humming Ale is only being brewed for export. A not so recent retired beer I miss is Sierra Nevada's ESB that was replaced by Tumbler I believe or was it Ruthless?

I am really happy that Sierra Nevada has brought back Pale Bock under their Old Chico line. I like this much better that Glissade.
