I can tell you that Moving Parts was available in a firkin on Friday (5/2/14) at the brewpub (Victory has Firkin Friday on the first Friday of the month). It was a very strange, but a very interesting first of the many Moving Parts brews. It was an IPA brewed with Saaz hops and also dry-hopped with the Saaz as well. Not too surprisingly, it had a pilsner-style taste profile and nice dry finish. I don't know what the abv was, but it went down real easy.

I assume it will be available on draft soon and bottled as well.

Any word on Wild Devil bottles hitting distro? Visiting DE next week and they get more of the limited releases than out here in NC so I'm trying to pick up a few bottles when I'm there.

Mad King just rolled out, I know that, and Victory website said Wild Devil "coming soon"

I've had a few IPAs that used Saaz hops and too found them tasty and very easy to drink. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for this.

Oh and according to the Victory website, it clocks in at 7.1% ABV. Not too shabby.

Saaz hops are Czech, no? Victory's website says a mix of us, uk, and German hops...

I really hope to see Mad King out here in Western NY. Draft only or bottles, do you know?

Thanks for the info, but now I have more questions. I looked up Mad King to see what it was and it made me wonder how it compared to Whirlwind Wit score-wise. Went to look it up and it's retired? When did that happen? I loved that beer. Can anyone who has had both Whirlwind and Mad King tell me their opinion on which they like better or if they are even similar at all (yes, I realize that Whirlwind is a Wit and Mad King is a Hefe)?

Quite different beers. Whirlwind is a low ABV Witbier made with unmated wheat and a large dose of coriander. Mad Kings is a unique Weissbier that is a touch more hoppy then a typical Bavarian Weiss and also uses a Belgian yeast strain. MK is also about 6.1% ABV...

    “ …also uses a Belgian yeast strain.”

Jim, thank you for providing that detail! There is a phenol profile in Mad King that I could never wrap my head around and now I know the ‘answer’: a Belgian ale yeast strain!

    Cheers!

I'm anxiously awaiting Wild Devil. Love that beer. I've never had the Mad King Weiss, I'll have to grab some to try, sounds good.

Been on tap for close to a week at the brewpub, so figured the bottles would hit before the calendar turned!

    Really?

They changed the formula back in October 2013 and it's crap to me now. Now it's filtered and it tasted like they added a bunch of honey.

And it's impossible to find fresh in cases in NEPA.

Its gone to semi-active status in that it will be "occasionally available on draft."
