Can someone photoshop a Viking helm and a battleaxe onto Trevor in that Toronado 25 picture?

I was just expecting a nicer atmosphere, but I had never been there before so again that was incorrect expectations on my part. I realize how my post comes off (espcially on a beer website!) But that was my overall takeaway. It felt like I was in a giant dirty (piles of open bottles, garbage) garage that was damp and there was only one thing to do...drink beer. Ive been to plenty of festivals/brewery parties where the patrons feel like everyday normal people, and this just felt like I wandered in to some next level beer geekdom. To each his own, and I am glad so many people had a good time, just not my cup of tea.

Either way,, De Garde kicks ass and I will always buy their beer.

I get what you're saying, but in all fairness you have to be a pretty hardcore beer geek to drive 2 hours (or more) out to bumblefuck Tillamook on a rainy Saturday morning, simply to line up and buy bottles of beer that often smells like cows farted in them.

I still think they need to rent out the blimp museum. There would be so much more room for activities and we could stare at the planes instead of checking in to Untappd.

I'm the guy who found the wallet. When I got inside I handed it off to Linsey and told her she may have an upset patron wandering the establishment in panic. Hopefully it made it back into the hands of the owner. I never saw anyone inside that resembled the photos in the wallet. Brett is his name, so if you read this, let us know if you got your wallet!

    Long Live de Garde!

There are a lot of cows in Tillamook ... you may be on to the brewing secret. Less CO2, more methane.

had a blast, thanks to everyone for being so welcoming to an out-of-towner.

it's a shame there were so many beer geeks at this beer geek event, though. next time don't serve any beer and it won't be an issue.

Thanks for your generosity, man. I thought the Cali Brandy was awesome until DB came around and knocked it on its ass! That is a phenomenal beer.

That was kind of my initial reaction as well, when I read over Derftron's post (which I assume is what you're responding to with that last quip). On the other hand, I thought Derftron made some good points (is there any us who attended who wouldn't have appreciated a bit more room to move around inside, and who wouldn't have appreciated a more fast moving bottle line? Also, I can't tell you how many folks I inadvertently tripped over or bumped into - everyone was cool, there were no problems; I'm just saying a bit more elbow room would have been nice), and there was nothing snarky or mean spirited about his post I thought.

I had a great time at the event, and I thought it was pretty well organized, especially given a first time event. I'm sure the folks at de Garde learned from the experience, and now that they have a better idea what to expect, maybe they'll look into making some of the changes suggested in this thread.

I don't see how it could have gone much better considering the restraints (size of the facility, last bottles arriving without boxes, large number of attendees, so many De Garde beers being released, keeping the prices as low as possible by cash-only direct sales). Bringing the line around to the back after the Keepers bought bottles was a smart solution to honoring the position of those who waited ourside. Great over-the-top beer selection, a crowd of interesting and well-mannered beer enthusiasts (read beer geeks if you will) and tremendous generosity displayed in the bottle sharing, quality of guest kegs, and by Trevor and Linsey (thanks for sharing the large-format T25!). The staff worked very hard the whole time to keep things moving and it was easy to get pours. Cheers to the very nice people at De Garde for a long-remembered good time.

I don't think anyone is up in arms about a comment on the lack of space. But to be blasted as fat sweaty beer nerds for talking about beer at a beer event is really odd. It seems he expected a beer release party to be like any other day at a bar.

:-) Agreed, but maybe next time they can place the port-o-potties some place else. They were literally part of the line there as you entered the building. Again, not a problem, but, ahem, I think everyone in line (and those in the potties) would have appreciated a more strategic location for them.

Here's the best summary I can think of about our time at the event and in Tillamook.

We waited in line starting far too early, in the rain, and the swirling winds, for a couple cases of De Garde goodness.

I stated to the fiance (who likes, but doesn't love, beer in general) that De Garde will be coming out with more variants as early as next month. The response? "When can we leave to go down there again?"

Great job all around, and thanks again.

I assumed that comment was made in jest. I didn't take anything from it (besides, at least for me, the sweaty part of his comment was definitely inaccurate).

I wasn't even at the party and I'm offended by his comment. To me, the tone doesn't seem to be in jest. Pretty malicious, actually.
