    From the article:
Entwined Ale, a malt beverage brewed with Muscat grape juice, will be the first release under Boulevard's Backroads Beers.

"I always had this idea - it's the Holy Grail of beer - the combination of wine and beer," Boulevard brewmaster Steven Pauwels says. "Wine has some acidity and you get some of the fruity aromas that you can't get in beer. So, we thought, how do you get that refreshing acidity aspect in beer?"

Entwined is Pauwels' first shot and answering that question. The beer, slated to hit shelves later this month, is made with Nelson Sauvin hops, in addition to grape juice, and is only 4.2 percent alcohol by volume (6 on the EBC scale and 10 IBUs).

Anyone who's been to the tasting room at Boulevard in the last several months get a familiar sense from this beer. It is based on the Nelson Test Ale, which was also a beer brewed with muscat grape juice.

Seems like it might have some similarities to the recent Goose Island/Deschutes Class of 88 Belgian Style Ale, which is also a beer brewed with wine grapes. Those beers, however, spent some time in barrels, while this one has not. Those also are stronger than the 4.2% on this beer.

Personally, I'm excited to try it. I thought Nelson was a unique brew.

Interesting...at 4.2 makes a nice addition to the sessions this summer. I really enjoy their Smokestack series...hope this isn't to tart...not a fan of the apple ciders...way to tart and acidic for my taste. Sounds refreshing...I'll try!

I will try it, but doesn't sound like my thing. I remember DFH doing one like this that did nothing for me. Will give it a go I guess...

How close is this to cider? Some breweries seem to be treading that fine line of what's even allowed on BA...

It doesn't sound like cider at all, to me. And the version they had in their tasting room didn't taste like cider either.

This, just like any beer, is still ultimately a fermented grain beverage (i.e., the "malt beverage" labeling). I don't see this as any different than any beer that utilizes additives like fruit, or chocolate or coffee.

Besides their IPAs, this brewery can do no wrong in my book. Count me in!

I agree for the most part, but this one was incredible

I'll try a single of Entwined, but I'm admittedly more excited about Saison-Brett

TOMORROW IN STORES! Well, in KC that is. And Saison-Brett, not Mid-Coast.

Although I wouldn't be sad if they replaced Single Wide with Mid Coast on a permanent basis.

It's looking like Entwined Ale six packs will start showing in KC the week of May 19th. Other cities should expect them soon after that.

Tennessee would really like to get in on some Boulevard. Any chance of getting distribution here (again)?

We don't have any plans for TN right now. Obviously, Duvel folks have been public about looking to expand our distribution, but nothing has been specifically planned just yet. We need to build another fermentation cellar to allow us to brew more beer first.

I'm skeptical but I really like Boulevard, so I'll probably give it a shot. And StLeasy is right about that Mid-Coast IPA - It's very very good; I hope they decide to produce that on the regular. I liked it a lot more than their Smokestack Double Wide IPA

I tried it in the tasting room, and it was awesome. Going to pick up a 6 after work tonight!

Had this last night. Very crisp and effervescent. The grape juice added a dry finish. It was like a cross between a lager, a cider and champagne. Pretty good beer for a hot Summer day for sure, but not sure I'd pick it up on the reg.
