Alewerks Brewing Cafe Royale made for a fine way to ring in New Year's 2014 for me.

When fresh, I described both this one and Mean Gene as Woodford Reserve milkshakes made with chocolate ice cream (not necessarily bad). You should post a review of this in the cellar reviews thread after the right moment strikes you. I'm very interested to hear how this beer mellows/develops.

It's uncommon, but if you ever locate a beer called 70K from Against the Grain, you'd love it. It's a massive milk stout (13%abv) aged in Angel's Envy barrels. Unbelievably tasty and dangerously drinkable.

Definitely would love to try that. Moloko is one of my favorite stouts, can't imagine it in a BB.

That sounds like an interesting brew. What makes something a milk stout anyway? Is it simply the addition of lactose to any stout?

If you want a great milk stout, check out Cozy Up from Woodland Empire. Only released in Boise ID and I can definitely get some to trade.
