You say you wouldn't mind owning the second best brewery in America - but if you did, wouldn't you be pissed to not be considered number 1? I'd lay awake at night wondering why I was that close but no cigar. Is it my water? What am I doing wrong?!?!?

#2 out out of almost 3000? I'd cash those checks and sleep at night. I'd also tell those bastards at #1 they owe me a few beers!

I'd be thoroughly stoked with that achievement too, but someone like me would never get there. People who get so close to being No. 1 tend to be people who aren't aspiring to be "first among losers."

Correct. It doesn't matter what you do, you should always strive to be the best. If you're in 11th you should strive for top 10. If you're #2 then you should do what you can to become #1. Settling is not an option.

Sure but, being something like "Best Brewery in America" isn't quantifiable. As long as we put out the best product we were capable of, a beer that a lot of people enjoyed, a beer that allowed my staff and I to live our lives away from beer as we wished, damn skippy I'd be ecstatic at #2. I have friends that work at a small (3bbl system) near here. They sell every drop of beer they make. If it's a great powder day on the mountain, they'll brew tomorrow. They are happy and satisfied with their lives. I don't think they'd care if they rated#2817.

I'm going to riff off my naked beer fest post and say: Pubes Brewing

Dark curly stout would be the specialty; rum and cognac ba stout

If I were to have a brewery it would be called Richard Cranium Brewing. Our Flagship IPA would be called Dendrophiliac's Wet Dream IPA. A flagship Chocolate Stout politely called Dirty Sanchez American Stout brewed with dingleberries. Man this thread can be fun!

So would DFL Brewing Co be a good name, or a bad one?

Hopsterine (high IBU's and ABV, probably a DIPA, but since it is a play on Listerine then it could possibly be a hopped up, high ABV version of a fruity beer, possibly colored like the ones below).

    Hop Force One
    H.O.P.
    Hop
    Just Hops
(not bad per se, but different, probably something Mikkeller might use)

The humor in it is that the marketing for the product is explaining to the consumer that he/she has a better option to spend their money on.
