He must have missed the cheese board. Someone brought a full spread of various goat cheeses, home made banana bread, cheddar scones, etcetera.

If he'd seen that he could have insulted the "cheese nerds" as well.

:-) I'm sorry, a comment like that, I just couldn't take offense from it. Even my GF thinks I'm some sort of a beer geek/nerd (I drove 2 and a half hours from Eugene for Godsakes), and I'll be the first to admit that I could stand to lose a few lbs.

On the other hand, I bathe regularly and use deodorant and an anti-perspirant daily! So Harrrrrummmpppphhhhhh!!!!!

I applaud your good nature, but let's review:

" B.O from the obese comicon/beer nerds sweating alcohol and trying to gobble every keg they could get to."

"the nerdery here was on Magic the Gathering/star wars geek type level"

"forced into close proximity of level 10 beer dorks just talking about all the beer they have"

Honestly, I'm more offended by it going back and reading it now than I was the first time. What I'm particularly impressed by is his ability to insult 4 other sub-cultures at the same time as he insults ours.

(Also, "after we tried all the beers on tap, we high tailed it back to PDX and went to the Whiskey Library which made everything better" reeks of "I spent $500 for the privilege of not having to interact with peasants".)

Hell, I spent almost $500 for the privilege of interacting with peasants. I'm doing it all wrong!

Still not taking offense from it. Some of his comments were so over the top that they were flat out ludicrous.

I think it was you or someone else who pointed this out... what exactly was he expecting at an event like this? My advice to him would be to stop coming to any major release from a popular brewery, as I think it's kind of predictable that this is how things are going to play out. That being said, as I mentioned previously, I think some of his observations and concerns have merit, and I didn't mind him expressing his opinion (isn't that what this is all about, after all?). Could he have couched them more politely? Sure, I think so too, but seeing as how I was wearing plenty of deoderont, and seeing as how I've never been to comicon, and seeing as how my BMI is in the only mildly obese range, I didn't take any of what he had to say personally.

You're awfully forgiving. Since when does something aimed directly at you and 100% accurate to qualify as offensive? He sounds like a completely pretentious fucking asshole and needs to take a hike.

Note, those are all regular, not imperial bu. (Except the one that is.) So, it's not the same boysenberry.

    I still want it all

    So glad to hear this.

I have a picture of batch 1 Cran Bu on my phone. (No, that's not weird. Shut up.)

    So I am curious..
Has anyone opened their bottles from the anniv. release?
I have since opened a Cran. Bu, a Strawberry Bu, a Side Project Desay (Chardonnay ) and an Imperial Vin Bu Merlot.
All bottles were very lightly carbed.. Still top notch, but lacking in the qualities that a nice carb adds to the overall experience, i.e. brightness, a longer finish and more of a pucker factor etc..
I found this odd, as the opposite has been true in past releases, so much so that it had become standard practice to chill down bottles starting in the morning of which i planned to share them, and then open them Outside with a glass or two on hand awaiting the bright and lively liquid gold i was soon to imbibe.
From what i have gathered the Imperial Vin Bu Chenin Blanc was not released because they were not happy with how the beer was conditioning, thus didnt deem it ready for release..
Wondering what other BA's have experienced.
And any thoughts/info as to whether further conditioning will benefit these beers, as so far there has been very little sediment/dregs..

I found Fleur Desay to be perfectly carbonated. Imperial Hop Bu was good as well. The Imp Cranberry Bu was pretty lightly carbonated and could have used a few more bubbles. Nothing like HotD carbonation levels, but definitely a departure from prior releases. Hopefully they'll carb up a little bit. It seems like prior releases have developed a little more carbonation over time.

Opened an Imp Cran Bu today. Delicious, but nearly flat as you mention.

i opened a Cran last Sunday and it was very low carbed. just opened a Chardonnay Saison Desay and the carb was great. very juicy with balanced tart and funk. borderline perfect.
