You should listen to your self...reading comp is very important as is following to logic of things. Kzoo said the drugs in baggies thing in response to your arguing its not illegal, it's a collectible item in regards to beer on eBay so its all tied together to which you responded coca cola cans. It all ties together, just keep clicking the up arrow and you'll see. You're clearly a lawyer and won't stop arguing whether you're right or wrong so I'm just gonna be the one to quit arguing and leave it here.

I'm with the brewer on this one. It's his business, his beer, and he can choose to sell when and how he wants. He doesn't owe anybody an explanation. If he decided he didn't want to sell growlers just because he doesn't feel like it, that would be his right. But since he has offered an explanation, now you get all sorts of people jumping in to attack that reason--and on some pretty hypocritical grounds, too.

For example, some people want to say that once the beer is sold, it belongs to the customer, who then can do whatever he wants with it. By that logic, wouldn't we say that before the beer is sold, it belongs to the brewer, and he can do whatever he wants with it? Including set the terms for sale?

    me too

P.S. all auctions as far as I know are gray area but I believe it has more to do with morality than legality. Wine auctions happen all the time and it is an accepted part of the wine world and I'd bet some laws have been changed because of it. Beer is another story though and we'll just agree to disagree on the whole "collectible" bs making it legal.

That said growlerS. As in, more than one.

Regardless, what I'm saying is that the TONE of the message is why I think the way I do, not the action. If he had just said "In order to stop Expo from appearing on eBay, we will no longer fill growlers," then I wouldn't say he's taking his ball home.

I didn't read all 13 pages of banter. From what I gathered reading the first 2 pages and the last page:

    1. My opinion- this just plain old sucks that there will be no more growler fills of this beer. Even for the locals. A fresh, fantastic, IIPA on tap is great-but being able to take a fresh growler hop and split it with someone or a small group of someones at home-where you can crash if you need to is in some ways even better. When I visit a new brewpub I take home a growler of my favorite beer-and it makes me like it MORE. A hoppy beer out of the bottle just isn't the same.

    2. I respect the brewer for sticking to his guns-but its a bit of an overreaction. The overreaction happened when he threatened to stop filling growlers of it in the first place-not actually going through with it. But-on the other hand they wouldn't fill growlers of BB plead the 5th at Dark Horse while I was there and I don't see anyone griping about that. I've seen a few places not do growler fills of certain beers that may be barrel aged, expensive, or rare.

    3. In most ways its a shame to see beer on ebay-but it shows, that as a brewer, your product has some sort of market value and that people really like it and want it.

“The only way it was going to get out of there was in your stomach.”

I guarantee you if Pat said that and only that he would still be called pissy. Love the double standards.

What were you thinking? What was going on in your mind? "Artistic Integrity"?
Wh-where did you come up with that? You're not artistic, and have no integrity.
You know you really need some help, a regular psychiatrist couldn't even help you.

Come on now, that was funny!

Show me a Russian River newsletter/posting where they come off as combative (as Pat has on more than one occasion) and I'll take it back.

I don't know if you're just baiting him (pun intended) but I just stopped at an out of the way bar this afternoon that had three RR beers on tap: PtE, Supplication, and Damnation.

A quote in a newspaper isn't the same as saying it in your newsletter.

Look, I have nothing against Pat or alpine, and I think he came off as childish. Why does this need to involve rr and why does that seem to offend you?
