Completely different. I enjoyed both a lot. Mokah is a lot sweeter, while Mocha Abduction was more hint of vanilla and coffee towards the middle with more predominant bitter chocolate at the end.

Binny's Grand. I don't routinely shop there but it wasn't Beth their beer guru. Someone else besides that guy had been pushing the same almond extract story on the Facebook CCBE group. It sounded like a rumor that had some legs to it so I wanted to check with the source to confirm they didn't know the story.

    Thanks for answering this, P-Dubs

Was at Archer Liquors near Midway on Friday. I think I saw a Last Kiss in the cooler. Plenty of other PW on the shelves.

Okay, so turns out a small amount WALNUT extract did accidentally get put in one of the batches by mistake by a careless, but handsome brewer, who thought it was natural chocolate that we add in secondary. The WALNUT extract we had on hand to experiment with is extremely expensive and high quality and very common in the food and beverage industry. The process used to extract the walnut flavor DOES NOT bring over any of the allergen that poses a danger to people with Tree Nut allergies (this would require labeling and reporting).

*NOTE* This does not mean the continental is safe for people who are allergic to Walnuts! We DO use Walnuts in the mash of that beer as indicated on the label.

wait... one more thing... also I know everyone is different who are allergic to tree nuts but our brewer Kate is allergic do peanuts but she doesn't have any issue with Walnuts or Almonds... hence why we can do those beers...

Also, I would say roughly a 3rd of the bottles have a tiny bit of this walnut flavoring in them... it's not significantly different than the 2 batches without but you can get a pick up a bit of a marzipan/frangelico/German black forest cake flavor.

Speaking of walnuts was "The Continental" the Wee Heavy style with walnuts? Were you guys happy with the walnut presence or is there really no way to highlight that flavor without dominating or drowning out the other flavors?

Just got home from a weekend in Chicago. Was lucky enough to grab Citra, The Jones Dog, Abduction Coffee Break, Mocha Abduction and Down Unda between The Beer Temple and Binny's Lincoln Park.

Look forward to opening these with some friends here in NJ/Philly area

I just seen someone on FB post a picture stating that they had just picked up a bottle of Smore Money Smore Problems today. Can anyone confirm that the new batch has hit stores already?

Beejay and myself are thrilled with how that beer turned out. We think it's perfect. Complex, attenuated correctly with the right mouthfeel and stellar fermentation (that yeast rocks).

We wanted to make more of a 'drinker' scotch ale that wasn't sweet and rich like Last Kiss is... Last Kiss is dessert beer full of vanilla and maple. it's a beer to lay down for a bit...

So Continental is supposed to also be a 90 Schilling, but more traditional like Smuttynose Scotch Ale, so more carbonation, dryer without being thin, grass, 'smokey' [not peaty or smoked malts... peated malt in beer is just wrong]

Sorry, to answer your question... we think theres a nice balanced Walnut flavor and we were actually happy to get that! we can turn it up a bit next time. we were happy that most people on ratings are able to get the walnut as well. everyones taste buds are not only different but also taste things in different 'volumes'. We will try some more for next time though... just to see how far we can push it without being overpowering.
