Hmm...who are these 'people'? I'm always skeptical when rumors start flying around

Alan said something on Facebook a few weeks ago about having three different batches of AftW in barrels now. He said 2014, 2015, and 2016. It's hard to get answers from him on Facebook, so maybe someone local can ask him in person.

Alan said on facebook on Jan 26,
"We will have an Adam Wood release this year but I have not bottled yet and do not know when it will be ready for sale. 2016 is Adam from single malt casks"

There was a post where he mentioned (in the comments) the 2014 and alluded to the possibility of a 2015 release as well.

Yes, that's correct. I was there on Sunday and they still had plenty available. AFTW is $12 a bottle, while Cherry Adam 2014 is $10. Case price is $240 and $200 respectively, with a 2 case purchase limit.

Just as an "oh by the way," I was told the current batch of both have little to no carbonation (hence the reduced price tag). On the other hand, the current batch of Blue Dot is one of the better one's (IMHO).

I was told there was a mob scene on Saturday, so I just assumed that everyone was aware of the release.

heard it was close to flat. but hopefully there is at least a little carbonation. either way, it will taste fantastic.

agree on blue dot. one of the better batches i can remember in the past few years. everything is dialed in. The brandy Cherry Fred on tap was also really tasty.

agreed on the current batch of blue dot, very tasty. I will also say I really enjoyed the current batch of Ruth as well, much hoppier than I remember. Beerweek was a nice addition as well.

They must have made a lot if it lasted into Sunday. It was super busy on sat, i showed up an hour after Alan posted on FB. I wonder if there's still some left. Seems to me aftw would fly by quicker than matt.

Even without carb i still think both beers are really good.

Unless there are bubbles, I can't handle a whole bottle of HotD. I usually drink half a bottle and use the other half to cook with.

thats the power of buildup. i think the Matt release was posted weeks and weeks in advance, so people could clear schedule and alert friends out of the area whou would want some.

this literally dropped out of nowhere on a nice sunny day when people were probably out doing stuff

I cracked one open last night and it was completely flat (not even a little hiss when I popped the cap off). The lack of bubbles does make it a bit too syrupy.

That being said, it's still a really good beer. I might have enjoyed it more than any of the versions I've had at the tasting room just because I was able to take my time with it and sip it over 2+ hours in the comfort of my own home. AftW is one of those beers that is really meant to be savored and I never feel like I am able to enjoy it properly on tap.

Does anyone know which barrels they used for both beers?

I was surprised as well. The staff mentioned that apparently Alan was not happy with the shit storm that ensued over the previous release (folks waiting outside in line for many hours), which is why he handled the currrent release in this manner. I can't speak for others, but it certainly made me happy. I heard about the release on Saturday (I was in Tacoma for the weekend), stopped in on Sunday around 1:30, ordered a cherry brandy Fred and a glass of Blue Dot, then ordered a 6 pack of both on my way out and left. It was a completely hassle free experience.

That's what I gathered when I asked Wendy. Maybe this will continue, seemed that it worked out well and they had some after the first day.
