I live close enough that I just walk down there. I love that bar the prices are good the staff is awesome and as long as I share the owner is cool with me bringing bottles from my cellar down
there. Basically I go there a lot....perhaps too much.

That's too bad- is it the food and beer that you don't like, or the neighborhood?

The beer is pretty bad and the food is average and also pubfare, which I have never had an affinity for, so that's already two strikes. Then the servers are some of the worst in the city, rude and unfriendly. Add to that, it's really more of a college kid hangout with the fratty douchebag feel to it, and that's like strike four. haha

I like Nob Hill in general, and there are a few bars/restos there worth checking out (Shade Tree, Slice Parlor, Two Fools, Bistronomy), plus Bosque Brewing will soon set up shop there, but Kelly's could go away.

Thought about mentioning this, I think it's more worth mentioning for essentially being a roadside brewery than for being located in a gorge (I'm not sure that's how I'd describe it's location). It is cool that you can grab some good beers here, than go right next to the fruit stand for some delicious cherries, fruit rolls and such.

Staying on the New Mexico vibe, Comanche Creek Brewing, in Eagle Nest, is in an old log cabin on a private ranch at 8300' elevation. I would post pics, but do not remember how.

Damn, Mike, you been some places. I haven't been to that brewery yet, one of about 4 in the state I've yet to drop in on. You're making me look bad. Haha.

I was at ten breweries in NM. Only place I didn't get to that was on the list was the brewery in Las Cruces, High Desert. I think there was another there, but did not get to the SW part of the State.

Church Brew is a great time …i grew up and hour from that place and move away about 8 years ago. It's one of the things i miss but i can still get back to visit my parents and go once in a while. THe pireogies they make are crazy sometimes, i've missed them but rattlesnake are one i want to try.

You're not missing much with High Desert. They could stand to improve. I'm curious as to whether you liked that brewery in Eagle Nest. And I assume you haven't been to Duel, right? You'll have to return for that one.

I did like Comanche Creek. Beer was average, but the setting and the owner made it worth while. I'm sure you are aware, but go when the weather is nice! Have not been to Duel yet. Is it good?

I'm also curious what Cody thought of the beer I brought him... Head Hunter, a hand bottled(from the brewer) Hop Juju and White Rajah. If you go, ask him.

    You are a generous man.

And yes, Duel is phenomenal. I predict they'll be best in the state with a year to a year and a half. Oh, and I had the Head Hunter just today. Quite tasty and quite the bitter blast.

That my friend is a bold statement with Mr. Erway still breathing. You may have expedited my next trip to New Mexico.

Head Hunter is an absolute pine/grapefruit rind assault. I can see why some may not like it, but I love it myself.

Just read your review. If you didn't find a date on the bottle, I'm pretty sure that one was from 4/16 but it could have been 4/21. In any case, it was fresh when I shipped to Dean on the 22nd.

Part of the Schlenkerla tavern is located in a 13th century monastery, and one of the rooms (my favorite) used to be the monks' chapel.

Two goats brewing in Hector, NY. Overlooking seneca lake, its an old barn with 1 room/floor for enjoying beer/music and 1 floor for brewing. A deck on the outside overlooks the steep hill that it sits precariously perched on over a vineyard down to an amazing view of the lake. The beer and roast beef is really good too!
